Sotomayor should retire

Sotomayor should retire. :ROFLMAO: Her timing would be just as great as Biden’s decision to withdraw from his second-term run.

She is 70 and diabetic. There is a non-negligible chance that Trump will appoint her successor if she remains.

Biden is still president, and Dems still have the Senate.
Being 70 and diabetic doesn't mean you won't live at least another 5 or 10 years. The one who should have retired was RBG. She was much older and had cancer as well as other chronic illnesses. But, she refused to retire. And, I agree it's too late at this point to replace her. I think it was Renquist who stayed on the court until he died around age 94. SCOTUS needs term limits. That would solve a lot of problems.

She'll be younger than Trump is now when the next election comes up.
Probably younger than Trump is now when the election after that comes up.

SCOTUS needs nonpartisan judges like they had in the 70s. Then Reagan fucked it up, as he has fucked everything else up.

Why do you think Reagan fucked up anything?

It was Obama who nominated a conservative centrist, Garland. Then the Teaparty went full on progressive, refusing to even hold a vote.
Teaparty is not conservative. Trump is not conservative. They're all hardcore Progressive.
They want to Progress beyond American values and institutions.

Worrying about Sotomayor now is like replacing the busted brake light in your car after an anti-tank round went through the engine. I mean, you're not wrong that light does need replacing but...

Rehquist and Bork. He started the partisan SCOTUS justice thing. HW would add Thomas. Got lucky with Souter while Kennedy and O'Connor were conservative but for Civil Rights.

Both Thomas and Alito are likely to retire as soon as Trump is sworn in.
Curious: what have you read on this? I thought Alito was on a power trip and thoroughly enjoying his ascendancy. In the Richard Pryor expression, he's really 'smelling his own piss.'
It's my own analysis, but fairly obvious. They can both retire and Trump appoints a young Justice vetted by the Heritage Foundation, just like before.
