I live 10 minutes from here. That isn't the best neighborhood, but it's not horrible, and just as a side note, there's a guns and ammo shop literally across the street.
This guy was known to harass people on a regular basis. He used to do this all the time, he was the "neighborhood enforcer". He would stand around for long periods of time, accosting people using the handicap spot, parking askew between the lines, and visually showing distaste at people's attire (mostly African Americans).
This guy had a gun, felt powerful and has been looking for trouble for a long time. He has been there just itching for a confrontation, and then being a dick, he finally got what he wanted. Now, after instigating the situation, he gets to walk. Pathetic. I know these type of people as I used to work in security, which has a bad habit of attracting wanabee cops. They buy a gun, and then their common sense goes out the window. Once they have their gun on them, they purposefully start taking risks they would not take had they not had a firearm. They take dark alleyways on purpose. They purposefully look for a bad situation to be in so they can use their firearm. It's sad, and these stand your ground laws will cause more problems.
The video clearly shows that although he was pushed, the man was not in fear of his life, but that's all it took for him to fire his weapon. The one that pushed him clearly stopped after that action and maintained his distance to the man. He didn't punch him, and he didn't continue to threaten. No he should not have pushed him, but he should not have been fired on. Period. It's my firm bet we will see this guy in the news again. I'm willing to bet he'll even resume his harassment of that store's customers after some time has passed. If he's really lucky, some firearm fetishist will start a gofund me so the man can get a better firearm.
