That's not what he said. Do you judge people negatively if they chose to have sex outside of marriage? This isn't about how you have sex. This is about putting your nose in other people's business.

My parents were hippies. They had sex every which way. It was the swinging 60'ies. They spawned three scientists. All very well educated and all got great jobs.

I'd say me and my siblings prove you wrong. Also, just look around the world. The west is the most successful when it comes to producing scientists and economic and social progress. Also the most sex outside the marriage. The number of Middle-Eastern Nobel prize winners is embarrassing. The Islamic world are not good at producing scientists.

So I'd say you've got the evidence against you.

Atheism isn't a philosophy, it is a single answer to a single question.

By definition, you need more than one belief in order to have something that constitutes a belief system.

Actually, none of those are part of atheism. Atheism means that if you ask them if a given god exists, they will say no.

Now, there are a number of atheistic philosophies, which may or may not bear a relationship to each other beyond that one initial point. For instance, many communist countries crack down hard on homosexual activities.

It sounds like what you're talking about is secular humanism specifically and not atheism in general. That one would ask things such as "What is a non-religious reason to be against gay rights or pornography" and not find a decent answer.

Saying that the tenets of this one atheistic philosophy speaks for atheism in general is like someone saying that you are personally in favour of sacrificing virgins to Quetzalcoatl in order to usher in spring since that's an aspect of a theistic philosophy and, as a Muslim, you are a theist. Since that's a different theistic philosophy than the one you hold, it's tenets aren't related to your beliefs, despite both of your philosophies falling under the broader umbrella term of theism.

The point of my post just above is this: Some atheists will believe at least some, and maybe several, of the things you listed. But, so will other groups, including some theists. If you describe one group with beliefs that you will find in other groups too, then you haven’t really described the group. You've missed the mark.

Syed, if you’re interested in learning and becoming a better educated person, you should ask other people what they believe. AND THEN LISTEN.

If I told you what you believe and you said “no, that’s not a good description of me” but I denied that what you said of yourself is true and repeated time and again “Syed believes this, Syed believes that” and was wrong every time I did it, then you would think there’s something wrong in what I was doing.

Right?

So, why do you do that?
