With waving flags, air horns and chants of “four more years,” protesters who refuse to accept that President-elect Joe Biden won the election are rallying Saturday in the streets of Washington. Thousands of people gathered in downtown D.C. to show support for the president, two days before the electoral college votes to cement his 306-to-232 loss.
There were no official crowd estimates, but the Saturday gathering seemed to attract far fewer of the president’s supporters than pro-Trump demonstrations one month earlier.
Saturday’s crowd was energized by visits from recently pardoned national security adviser Michael Flynn, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, and around midday, a flyover from what appeared to be Marine One.

By midafternoon, the crowd’s attention was focused not on the president but on a group he once told to “stand back and stand by”: the Proud Boys, a male-chauvinist organization with ties to white nationalism. In helmets and bulletproof vests, hundreds of men in their ranks marched through downtown in militarylike rows, shouting “Move out” and “1776!”
They seemed intent on intimidating onlookers, and adopted a chant popular with counterprotesters: “Who’s streets? Our streets.”
They were blocked from going near Black Lives Matter Plaza, which has been the site of both peaceful protests and combative moments for months. Police largely fenced off the area, then made various formations on bikes to form human barricades, hoping to keep the Proud Boys from going near counterprotesters gathered there.
But tension still escalated in fits and starts. Shortly before midnight Friday, a brawl between a dozen Trump supporters and counterprotesters resulted in the arrest of at least four people.

Will this die down after Biden is in office or are we in for more unrest and violence in the street?

What I find most disgusting is that there are members of Congress, clergy, etc. who are supporting this! Now, I'm beginning to understand how other autocratic leaders rose to power.

Earlier in the day, the Proud Boys were among the crowds at larger demonstrations spread across the city, where thousands of people came to listen to speakers that included clergy and newly elected members of Congress, all of whom spoke of election fraud claims that have been disputed or debunked.

Irrational behavior is not new. Delusional behavior is not new. Rule by terror and intimidation is not new. Simple human stupidity and ignorance is not new. The divine right of kings and rulers is not new. What's new on the human landscape are things like democracy, human rights, trial by jury, one man one vote, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Egalitarianism, Public education, etc. So though still wary, I for one am certainly not surprised by all the crazy, regressive behavior.

Just because people become free does not mean people have become intelligent. Proof positive that the liberals are winning, and winning big, is that there is freedom for the crazies too. And these are certainly crazies here.

Trading one's brain for a flag is for losers. Long may they wave in vain.

You are assuming that they had a functioning brain to begin with....:D

I know it's not really funny but humor never makes anything worse than it already is and it's always been my best coping measure.

Multiple people stabbed after thousands gather for pro-Trump demonstrations in Washington

Thousands of maskless rallygoers who refuse to accept the results of the election turned downtown Washington into a falsehood-filled spectacle Saturday, two days before the electoral college will make the president’s loss official.

In smaller numbers than their gathering last month, they roamed from the Capitol to the Mall and back again, seeking inspiration from speakers who railed against the Supreme Court, Fox News and President-elect Joe Biden. The crowds cheered for recently pardoned former national security adviser Michael Flynn, marched with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and stood in awe of a flyover from what appeared to be Marine One.

But at night, the scene became violent. At least four people were stabbed near Harry’s Bar at 11th and F streets NW, a gathering point for the Proud Boys, a male-chauvinist organization with ties to white nationalism.

The violence escalated after an evening of faceoffs with counterprotesters that took place near Harry’s, Black Lives Matter Plaza, Franklin Square, and other spots around downtown.

At first, officers in riot gear successfully kept the two sides apart, even as the groups splintered and roamed. In helmets and bulletproof vests, Proud Boys marched through downtown in militarylike rows, shouting “move out” and “1776!” They became increasingly angry as they wove through streets and alleys, only to find police continuously blocking their course with lines of bikes.

“Both sides of the aisle hate you now. Congratulations,” a Proud Boy shouted at the officers.

The lunatards who contribute to Trump's defense fund appeals are getting taken royally. According to Reuters, from the fine print, unless you give $8,000 or more, your donation doesn't go to the "Stop the Steal" effort -- instead, it's split between Save America (a general purpose Trump pac) and the RNC.
2020, the birth year of the great Sore Loser movement.

It was a Wisconsin or Michigan judge that asked one of Trumpy's lunatard attorneys why he didn't ask for and pay for a larger recount. The lunatard response was that it was too expensive. The judge promptly replied that Trump has raised 170 million dollars for the effort so the response that it would have been too expensive does not wash. The judge then told them to go pound salt.

Former Houston police captain charged with pointing gun at air-conditioner repairman, believing he was a voter fraud 'mastermind'

According to the district attorney's news release, Aguirre, 63, told authorities he had conducted surveillance for four days on an unidentified man driving a truck that he suspected had 750,000 fraudulent ballots inside. The release said Aguirre believed the man was "the mastermind of a giant (voter) fraud."

Instead, prosecutors say the victim was an "innocent and ordinary" air-conditioner repairman.

"Aguirre ran his SUV into the back of the truck to get the technician to stop and get out," the news release said, describing the October 19 incident. "When the technician got out of the truck, Aguirre, pointed a handgun at the technician, forced him to the ground and put his knee on the man's back -- an image captured on the body-worn camera of a police officer."

Responding authorities found no ballots inside the vehicle, only air conditioner parts and tools, prosecutors said.

I hope the guy gets 20 years.

Doesn't this belong in the "totally justified" thread?

You know, if you ever want to get someone killed but don't want to do it yourself, just tell a trumpy dipshit that the someone is a mastermind in the attempt to steal the election from Trump.

Guys, we could potentially get rid of a lot of people this way...

Turns out that this guy is a former police captain because of a botched raid meant to crack down on street racing. His 'raid' arrested 278 people, pretty much everyone they could find in the parking lot area, including Kmart customers and people just eating at a Sonic.

Crazies descending on DC? They're already here, running the Senate

I just watched a Youtube that enraged me.
Ron Johnson Chairman of Senate Homeland Security & G.A. Committee, running that Committee on C-SPAN, called ranking member Gary Peters a liar. Over and over, he accused the Ds and Peters specifically of constructing deliberate lies about Russian interference in elections. Isn't there a rule against that in the Senate? When the bile finally stopped foaming from Johnson's mouth, Peters tried to answer the charge. Johnson didn't allow Peters to speak, gavelling.

I make fun of America's gun nuts, but sometimes I wish one of the humans would put some bullets where they'd do some good.

I live in a non-English speaking country, and sometimes try to explain U.S. politics to the autochthones. The words "Democrat" and "Republican" are meaningless to them, so I simplify things by referring to the two parties as the "Red-shirts" and the "Humans." Is this unfair?

I’m still amazed that Wisconsin went from Russ Feingold to Ron Johnson.
I'm also curious the difference between Wisconsin and neighboring Minnesota. I think the brainwashing on "socialism" and the Democrats has finally paid off.

Well sure, the GOP are a bunch of crooks, but I don't want the US to turn into Cuba.

Someday "Trump supporter" will just mean the sweaty, taint-stained hernia truss that Donald's grumbling Puerto Rican valet fastens around his chubby hams every morning during the Tweet hour.

No one's gonna mention the guy was paid a lot of money by a Christian fundamentalist organization?

Prosecutors say Aguirre was paid more than $260,000 by a private group called "Liberty Center for God and Country"

Must be that "Christian love" I'm always hearing about.

You could use "Red Shirts" and "Blue Shirts".
