The Great Hypocrisy of Right-Wingers Claiming ‘Cancel Culture’

Don't try to change the subject.

Oh, Don2 favors antitrust exemptions. Would not have thought that.

You are being intellectually dishonest.

You KNOW blastula is pointing it out because Cruz et alia were all for MLB until MLB disagreed about Georgia's rights:
MLB agrees with Cruz et alia ==> antitrust exemption
MLB disagrees with Cruz et alia ==> remove antitrust exemption

So just like you KNOW, any observer commenting Cruz et alia are canceling MLB for unjust reasons is right to point it out. It does not mean the rational observer is either for antitrust exemptions wholesale or not. Trying to change the subject into whether it ought to have an antitrust exemption for SOME OTHER REASON is an exercise in typical conservative activism, not rational dialogue.

More conservative "anti-cancel culture" frauds trying to use government to punish speech.

Sens. Cruz, Hawley, Lee seek to strip Major League Baseball of antitrust exemption - NBC News

Why should it have an antitrust exemption?
Probably it shouldn't. But you ought to be asking the more relevant question "What prompted these three Senators to realize MLB had an unjustified antitrust exemption?" Because it seems that those 3 stooges are trying to cancel MLB culture.

So when exactly can we say someone is engaging in cancelling someone else?

Person X has an odious opinion. Person Y says "Because person X hold that opinion I will:

1. Stop associating with Person X
2. Stop associating with Person X and tell that person why
3. Stop associating with Person X and tell others why
4. Stop associating with Person X and encourage others to do the same
5. Contact Person X's employer to inform them of the odious opinions
6. Contact Person X's employer to inform them you will boycott as long as Person X is still employed
7. Contact social media to try to have Person X deplatformed

Where does it cross the line into Cancel Culture?

"Cancel culture" is just another snowflake conservative catch phrase to describe a fundamentally hypocritical position.

Sure it is. Care to try to tackle the question I asked?
Well, If we pretend for a moment that conservatives aren't hypocrites and we apply your questions to the case of Colin Kaepernick, we discover that none of your questions define the threshold of "Cancel Culture." Too many conservatives decry "Cancel Culture" and meet the qualifications of your questions for these to define the limit. Maybe you missed some questions.

8. Threaten to put a bullet in the head of Person X?
Oh, no... If we ask current house representative Greene she'll tell us that that isn't cancel culture either. She (And just about every other Republican representative nearly all of whom refuse to censure her) will tell you that she wouldn't be involved in anything as sordid as "Cancel Culture."

9. Actually put a bullet in the head of Person X?
Ah, this might be the threshold... but we might have to do some polling regarding the Gabrielle Giffords case to know for sure.

From what I see from the rabid right, the problem with the Gifford case is that it was an incomplete job. What's the point of putting a bullet in the head of a lib'rul if they not only live to tell about it, but go around making a big deal out of the fact that a proud 'Murkin tried to mete out some much needed justice?

Where does it cross the line into Cancel Culture?

None of these things cancels a person, their ideas, or their ability to express those ideas.

To actually cancel someone, you would need to kill them, imprison them, or otherwise remove their ability to think or communicate with the outside world.
