Seems the republic of the United States of America is in danger of disappearing off the face of the earth about every four years.

It gets tiring hearing about our impending doom so much.

But . . . if it's really going to die can we just get it over with already? I'm looking forward to being absorbed into Canada. They seem like nice people for the most part.

RU Nutz. Why do you think its so cold in Canada. Not a warm heart for parsecs. Celine Dion's music should be the tip off. geez. Why is rousseau always looking for reasons for this or that emotional thing.? Git a grip. Its even evident in Tom Sawyer. A Canadian who won't use a Canadian fictional character for a handle who uses Washington Irving approach to humor? What's wrong with Sargeant Preston or Alex Trebek ferchissake? Why would anyone romanticize about a happy wanderer who sings where no one hears him? Canadians do. They even had a movie made of it. What is this thing with down the the stream and canoes. ... and Zed? Anyone have a splain for that, eh?

Bring out the straight jackets boys.

It's a part of my life goal to know everything about everything, which you are doing a fine job of contributing to. Thank you.

See? I complimented and thanked you. How Canadian is that?

Good work FDI, you are much appreciated.

Exactly what one would expect of a Canadian. Deflect, compliment, and smile.

Perfect!

Actually, I'm named after a Rush song. They're a Canadian band.

Really? A Rush song. I served before the vietnam era. So Rush and I were never a thing. I dodged the draft too. I enlisted in the Navy when I got my notice in 1961.

Refering to the OP, its the way things were. Things have actually gotten much better in the US since then. So blathering about we're doomed every four years generally comes from college freshmen, more likely sophomores since they think they can think, but, they forget they are still governed by hormones with little history or common sense for ballast.

Hey. I was back in school over the normal Vietnam era when lefties like me were streaming to our northern border rather than get drafted. So when I talked to those who were concerned that they'd be sent to be point or drag on some patrol squad (black usually) at school about that I suggested that since they were in school that they make sure their deferments remained in force. Wouldn't work for those who were not really formal education types so I actually suggested they find ways to drop out of view. Face it blacks weren't really accepted in Canada at the time.

My white friends got the usual talk including the Canadian option.

But since we're piling on, blame Canada.

In fairness, Republican economic policies (and the centrist Democrats who use a watered-down version of the same policies) have wrecked the economy so bad that more Mexicans are leaving America than are coming here.

So technically, the doomsayers might be accidentally correct right now under the "stopped clock is right twice a day" rule.

I guess the Republicans were actually right about something. They said that if we kept electing Republicans, they would do something about the "illegal immigrants" problem, but I don't think this was the solution anyone had in mind.

LOL...even with the confusion, yours was a funny post. But I'm not a space alien nor British.

Actually, the right wing fringe is also nearly constantly warning that the end is nigh...

Google inquiries of "how to move to Canada" shot way up this year, during the Trump run for president. What you don't realize is that if Trump wins, Canada will be building a wall to keep Americans out, and America will pay for it.

Also, the beer sucks up there. They call it an IPA but it might as well be a Kokanee.

So you're Today's Tom Sawyer, not the original Tom Sawyer. Thank you for clarifying that. I've always wondered.

Hey, is it too late for us to be outraged that some Canadians appropriated one of our iconic cultural figures?

Should be sanctioned but can't resist. That was d......

Moving on. I'm thinking liberal runs north and conservative runs south except Russia so so liberal they become conservative. Tribes. That's the ticket.

If america falls back into tribe political thinking (think Donald of Orange here) we'll probably become an oligarchy like the Ukraine - its strange but does anyone else see Poland falling way back from its Solidarity days toward tribalism - and most of Europe will probably follow as well.

Now if Canada starts becoming tribal we'll probably see it first in the Anglicization of Vancouver since the Quebec thing has already been settled.

That's pretty far north for tribalism though. Hopefully Sweden will remain sane.

Still, just noodling here, not sure whether its industrialization verses agrarianism or tribalism being used as the liberal-conservative cleaver here in the states.

Interesting insight from Trump though about youth and radicalism and violence don't you think.

Did you know things are worse now than when Obama took office? The media just doesn't report it because... you know, communist bend and all.
