The Women's March and Linda Sarsour

Personally, and as a woman, I would just like to express just how grateful I am that all you nice menfolk have gone to so much trouble and research so that you can tell me and all the other ladies what to think and who to disapprove of. Your efforts are duly appreciated.

So you don't care that a cause you support has been corrupted for evil purpose?

I didn’t support them. They supported me.

In other "Women's March" developments, a local march in California is being canceled because it is too white.
Calif. organizers cancel Women's March for being too white

Washington Times said:
Organizers of the Women’s March in Humboldt County, California, announced Friday that they have canceled the local Jan. 19 event because the marchers are overwhelmingly white.
In a Facebook statement, the group said it opted to nix the third annual march “after many conversations between local social-change organizations and supporters of the march,” saying they would work on how to “broaden representation in the organizing committee.”
[...]
Others pointed out that the Northern California community of about 137,000, located near the Oregon border, is predominantly white.
Census Bureau data from July showed that the county was about 74 percent non-Hispanic white, 12 percent Hispanic, 6 percent Native American, 2 percent Asian, and 1 percent black.
“I was appalled to be honest,” said Amy Sawyer Long. “I understand wanting a diverse group. However, we live in a predominantly white area … not to mention how is it beneficial to cancel? No matter the race people still want their voices heard.
Emphasis mine. What is this Amy Sawyer? Some kind of racist? ::confused2:

"The Resistance" has long since jumped the shark and become a parody of itself ...
I’m surprised that you are comfortable continuing the claim that all women support these few organizers. It’s just weird because it’s so obviously unconnected. The vast majority of the movement doesn’t even know these people. They aren’t gathering for those people. They are gathering to be with each other. The organizers are great for portajohns and trash pick-up. But really, most of us don’t go for the speakers or the musicians. We go for the solidarity with each other.

And you’ve been told all this before, in great (some would say excruciating) detail. Beyond strange that you are still tossing it out there.

Derec, you are a parody. A really sad one at that.

Isn't there a mistake in that? Should be The Onion, not Washington Times.

Derec, you are a parody. A really sad one at that.
That's ridiculous. You just don't want to recognize that Women's March is not automatically good just because it is anti-Trump and involved women.

I’m surprised that you are comfortable continuing the claim that all women support these few organizers.
Nobody ever claimed that. That's a silly straw man.
It’s just weird because it’s so obviously unconnected. The vast majority of the movement doesn’t even know these people. They aren’t gathering for those people. First of all, that particular article was not about the national organizers, but about a local chapter canceling because too many white people showed up last time.
Second, extremism of organizers is relevant. If there was an X rally, and the organizers of X were shown to be racists who support David Duke, then it would be reasonable to expect people to disassociate from X and no longer support it.

And you’ve been told all this before, in great (some would say excruciating) detail. Beyond strange that you are still tossing it out there.
I do not fault women who showed up at these rallies in 2017 in good faith without knowing who Sarsour, Mallory etc. really are. I fault women who continue to defend these women and still support "Women's March" and who refuse to acknowledge that there is anything wrong with it.

This does kind of raise an interesting conundrum. If you found out your long time mechanic had a racist blog, would you still continue to use him? Or similarly, are you still comfortable watching Mel Gibson's movies even after his sexist, racist tirades?

I don't care what men decide about the moral purity of any woman's cause. And I feel the same about assumptions you make about me.

Yeah, we've seen it many times. If it favors women it's good, period.

Then clearly the argument you (and others) are making should focus on that local chapter, not the entire movement.
