In before Derec points out that during Paul's iifetime, women were never conscripted and thrown into the meat grinder of war, which many consider to be the price men paid for their right to vote. Unless they were rich, of course. Rich men not only got to vote, but used their wealth to influence politics, making a mockery out of the bullshit the working class was subjected to for the sake of imperialism.

But but but Paul should have campaigned for women to be sent to war as well because that would be true equality!...as opposed to what we have now which is no conscription for anyone and voting is not based on some bullshit obligation to die for a government's imperial interests.

In retrospect it seems absurd that we ever considered it sensible to only include one half of the population in the democratic process.

Less than half. People of color and Native Americans were also disenfranchised.

Why should I? As Hillary said, those men don't matter since their mothers, wives and daughters are the "primary victims of war".

If Hillary actually said that, why didn't you put the words "those men don't matter" in quotes?

Because that part is the interpretation. The exact quote is:
"Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat."
I.e. those me who lose their actual lives in combat do not matter as much as their female relatives. :banghead:

According to recent statistics gathered by the United Nations and updated Nov. 17, there are 4,289,792 registered Syrian refugees, and about 22 percent of those refugees are men between the ages 18 and 59. The hypothetical young male “fighting age” range is most likely narrower in reality. Also contrary to common belief, the majority (50.3 percent) of refugees are female, and an even higher majority (51.2 percent) are children under 17 years of age.

Are men who voluntarily sign up as ISIS soldiers "victims?"

She really said that? LOL

I think you are in the wrong thread bro.

No, I'm not. Don't try to take back what you wrote now.

You said that men who are dying in war are the primary victims. The vast majority of men dying in this war are ISIS men. They're not victims. BUT their wives and daughters (and sons) are, just like the wives, sons, and daughters of any non-ISIS male casualties in war and just like the majority of refugees are female...

No, I'm not. Don't try to take back what you wrote now.
We were specifically talking about men being thrown in the meatgrinder of WWI. And Hillary said her stupid and sexist quote in 1998, long before ISIS existed.

And by the way, if the female relatives of ISIS fighters support the ISIS cause that doesn't make them victims either, right? There have been many females who traveled to Syria to join up with ISIS.

Let's get this quote into context.

Hillary said:
Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. Women often have to flee from the only homes they have ever known. Women are often the refugees from conflict and sometimes, more frequently in today’s warfare, victims. Women are often left with the responsibility, alone, of raising the children.

I think you are avoiding the question.

None of that changes the fact that those that die or are wounded in combat are surely the primary victims of wars, not women who get to live in relative safety.
Hillary is a sexist, as she thinks women matter more than men.

And I think your record is stuck.

That did not make it seem less idiotic.

The question isn't 'matter' it's who suffers more. I can only die once in combat. And I get a medal.
My wife can lose me, her father, one or more kids, and face that loss for the rest of her life.

But, hey, she gets my posthumous medal to hold onto! :D

And I think your record is stuck.
That one broke the irony meter in every possible universe.

Your conclusions are unconvincing. There are a number of interpretations of her quote that do not imply that conclusion. And the notion that anyone who lives in a war zone is living in relative safety is questionable, to say the least.
