I am thoroughly confused both by the thread title and this response to it.

Is having trans porn illegal or somehow wrong?

Does having trans porn make somebody one that you will be less surprised is vermin?

This all seems a little transphobic.

Morality is, at least in my estimation, something separate from ethics. Morality is the rules you make for yourself, whereas ethics details the way we ought treat others in order to guarantee the best future for oneself. And in this rubrics, the only morality anyone should be held to is their own: how well a person maintains the morality they hold relevant is exactly how moral or immoral they are. It has little to do with ethics. And so, because Alex's stated personal rules of morality say that it is immoral to be, or to appreciate, or acknowledge the existence of trans persons, Alex is immoral by the only rules of morality that anyone can and should ever be held to: his own.

Well. to be fair to him he did not say that he didn't look at porn, just that he has a dedicated porn phone or dedicated show phone or both.

"Busted" makes perfect sense in the context of someone caught doing something that he has attacked as immoral and mentally disturbed. In that clear context made explicit right in the thread title, there is zero implication that the OP views transporn as wrong in itself. Your first post could be excused as poor reading comprehension on your part, but your commitment to the "bit" smells more like intellectual dishonesty.

Granted, several other posters in this thread regularly engage in similar rhetorical tactics, but don't be part of the problem.

Yeah, so, my husband has a dead name. Half of my husband's groomsmen have dead names. My ex-spouse has a dead name. A few of my own guests to the wedding have dead names. It is not in any way transphobic, at least according to any of the above persons, to judge a transphobic person for having trans porn. It is not the mere possession of trans porn which makes for ethical objection. It is the possession of trans porn by an individual publicly critical of the very existence of transitional services

So yeah, 100% with you here, Ron, JP is doing logic pretzels to shut down objection to calling out hypocrisy. It's the same situation as calling out a senator for sponsoring anti gay legislation when he is propositioning people for gay sex in an airport bathroom.

But I'd bet that JP just disappears from the thread for a few pages so that he can conveniently ignore that he made those comments.

Now, porn pop-ups usually only come from sites that have porn but that doesn't inherently mean you were looking at porn. Consider (NSFW link warning!!), for example: http://www.watchersweb.com/sub_index.php?cat=FunnyFarm. This is a porn site--but the content of this page is humor (and it's outside the paywall that applies to most of the site), not porn (although the ads on it are R or NC-17.) AFIAK this site doesn't play pop-up games but that doesn't mean accidents are impossible.

In this case, though, it's way too convenient. I'm not buying it was an accident.

Yeah, you have to have some pretty specific browsing habits to pick up trans porn in a pop up. Like comes from like, especially in this day and age.

Nope. Maybe I'm the one not using the internet correctly, but every time I've gone to a porn site, it is specifically for the purpose of finding porn. The closest I've been to I suspect is borderwall ads about single russian women in my neighbourhood (not suburb) whilst looking at BattleTech or Star Wars wiki pages. If my phone has a picture of two redheads eating each other out on a bed with a blonde gagged and chained to a wall watching helplessly, it's because I was actively looking for that precise type of porn. Not because I was doing my online banking and a popup appeared.

Nope. Maybe I'm the one not using the internet correctly, but every time I've gone to a porn site, it is specifically for the purpose of finding porn. The closest I've been to I suspect is borderwall ads about single russian women in my neighbourhood (not suburb) whilst looking at BattleTech or Star Wars wiki pages. If my phone has a picture of two redheads eating each other out on a bed with a blonde gagged and chained to a wall watching helplessly, it's because I was actively looking for that precise type of porn. Not because I was doing my online banking and a popup appeared.

It's not going to show up because you were banking. However, it becomes a real issue when dealing with sites that have porn but you are there for other reasons. (For an example, see my earlier link. Or, for those of a slightly criminal bent, torrent sites.) In the old days you could also get this completely inadvertently--some site pulls in an ad for Adult Friend Finder, some other site sees the AFF link and decides adult material is ok and pulls in outright porn. AFIAK this has been dealt with (I've blocked ads for ages and in the era before that I zapped AFF with the hosts file because it got so annoying so I can't be sure about that specific example) but the adult/tame decisions aren't 100% accurate even now. (Try to get Google to translate obscene terms that have innocent meanings! It has no problem with "cunt" and comes back with the dirty word, not the clinical word--but try to do the same thing for the male organ...)
