TRUMP 2028

There is a very easy way Trump could become president again.

Vance runs for president and wins. Trump is his VP. Vance resigns after midnight. Trump is the peresident again.
You have to be eligible to be elected President in order to be eligible to ge elected VP...
VPs aren't elected. There was a long discussion on this by legal minds last night on MSNBC and the conclusion is it is quite possible.

Congress screwed up when they specified elected instead of just saying ineligible.

Oh my god, yes they are. And you can't have a running mate who wouldn't be eligible, that's in the Constitution. People brought this nonsense idea up when Obama left office snd they wanted him back, too.

I've edited my original post. Please go back and read it.

And on what ballots is there a check box for the vice president?

The ballots filled out by those who actually do the electing. The 12th amendmemt reads, in full:

"The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate;–the President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;–The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. [And if the House of Representatives shall not choose a President whenever the right of choice shall devolve upon them, before the fourth day of March next following, then the Vice-President shall act as President, as in case of the death or other constitutional disability of the President.–]The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

It has become customary for presidents and vice presidents to run together, and for states to list them as such on the popular ballot. But you're voting for two people when you check that box, and as for the actual electors, they are very literally submitting two votes for two people, each on "distinct lists". This, by the way, is also why Trump was not allowed to "fire" Mike Pence when he wanted to. He was elected, not appointed, to a term of four full years, and the only route to removing him would have been impeachment.

Of course, this country no longer has meaningful rule of law, so who knows?

Also Vance would do the same things Trump is doing if Vance were president, so it would not be much different, if it was just Vance. All of these MAGAtards are full in on Project 2025.

That plainly violates 12A.
But who cares? Cheato cheats; it’s what he does. If he says he’s running (perfectly legal “free speech”) and people vote for him (their right!), and the Trumpsucking Congress confirms him, DOES ANYONE THINK SCROTUS IS GONNA COMPLAIN?

I highly doubt Vance would have the same support that Trump does. Cult of personality and all that.

Yeah, but the elections will still be rigged.

It's on the same line as the presidents name. If we want to ignore the constitution, why not put Musk as a VP candidate. He can't serve as president so should it go to the Speaker of the HOuse? And what if that was a Democrat?

I though you couldn't be VP if you weren't eligible for the presidency.

Trump wasn't eligible for the presidency the last time. Yet there he is.

The 22nd Amendment bars anyone from being elected president more than twice, and the 12th Amendment blocks anyone ineligible for the presidency from serving as VP. If Trump has already served two terms, he’s constitutionally ineligible to hold the office again—by election or succession.
