WASHINGTON DC -- In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, President Donald Trump said something really stupid. The discussion was centered on something common and non-controversial, however, the President interjected a ridiculously oversimplified, out of context, and completely false take on it. The befuddled reporter requested a followup on the stupid thought, and the President reaffirmed the completely insane comments.
White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, stumbled in an attempted feat of verbal gymnastics to justify the utterly incomprehensibly stupid statement by the President. Spicer rambled for one whole minute without saying anything that presented the President's statement in a context that was either reasonable or competent.
Cable media was quick to report the absurdity, dedicating hours to cover it. Pundits were invited to discuss the stupidity, however, no consensus was ever reached between one person from the left and one person from the right on the screen. The cable media, however, was ready to pivot at a moments notice to swoon over a military attack or a satisfactorily given speech by the President.
President Trump supporters were quick to defend the President's outrageous claim using strawman arguments, false equivalencies, and red herrings against those that found such an utterance unfit for the person serving as the head of the White House. When confronted with reasonable arguments, Trump supporters typically resorted to ignoring crucial portions of arguments, name calling, and blaming "the media".
