Far-right online forums are seething with references to potential violence and urging supporters of President Trump to bring guns to Wednesday’s protests in Washington — in violation of local laws — as Congress meets to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
Many of the posts appear to be direct responses to Trump’s demands that his supporters pack the nation’s capital in support of his bogus claims that November’s national vote for Biden resulted from election fraud. Congress’s largely ceremonial role in confirming Biden’s victory has emerged as a catalyst for expected unrest that has D.C. police and the National Guard deploying on city streets to quell potential trouble.
Talk of guns and potential violence is rife on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, the conservative social media site Parler and on thedonald.win, an online forum that previously operated on Reddit before the company banned it in June after years of racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism and calls for violence.

Trump’s tweet last month pushing baseless fraud claims and promoting the “big protest” on Jan. 6 — “Be there, will be wild!” — has become a central rallying cry. It was the top post on thedonald.win Tuesday morning, and anonymous commenters saw it as a call to action: “We’ve got marching orders,” the top reply said.
Discussion in the thread followed about how most effectively to sneak guns into Washington, laced with occasional references to using them. D.C. has some of the nation’s strictest gun laws: Openly carrying guns is banned, concealed-carry licenses from other states aren’t recognized, and all firearms in the District must be registered with local police.

Is this just a bunch of cheap talk or do you all think that massive numbers of these idiots will try to do something violent? I tend to think their numbers will be small, but I guess we will soon find out. Although I couldn't find an article yet, I saw that Trump supporters are already showing up in DC to protest tomorrow's official election results in Congress. Sheesh. These people really are nuts, thanks to their cult leader.

No, Donny didn't create the nuttery. But, where they used to be careful about where they took off the masks? Who saw them in full nutsy-fagin mode? Donny made them think they were mainstream again.

Who knows. Trump has been boiling the cauldron for years now. It provides the imagination of a possible DC version of Kent State. The DC mayor is imploring normal people to just let the assholes be. These idiots have been jacking off to militia porn for so long, they forget what it means to actually make with an insurrection. Some idiot starts something and it'll be like an idiot that runs out onto the football field... and when the adrenaline wears off... has no idea what to do next.

When Americans protested Trump's election, Americans be saying "We're not happy." They weren't saying "Change the result of the election or we'll start shooting."

Trump wants a lot of violence beginning early and intensely on the 6th so he can declare "marshall" law, and shut down Congress before the final ratifying votes are done, which his seditious acolytes in the Congress will try to delay as long as possible.
 
Protestors are already gathering in the plaza. The DC police have said they will arrest anyone carrying a firearm within 1,000 feet of the event and the National Guard have been called in. This will get interesting.

I wonder if they're going to bring in their own counter-protesters to attack.

If no counter protesters show up, what are they going to do?

I remember Teabaggers openly fantasizing about exercising their second amendment rights in 2009-2010. This type of crap has been evolving to what happened this week prior to Trump entering politics, and will stay around long after Trump becomes irrelevant.

I want to say that is inconclusive. We don't know where it is. It doesn't look good for the Capitol Police, but it isn't conclusive what and where it happened.

I'm totally with you about not drawing firm conclusions based on a few seconds of video from the internet.

But the where, what, how and(especially) when questions shouldn't be difficult to answer. If a cop opened that gate, during the attack, as it appears, I'm having trouble thinking of any possible "why" that isn't grounds for prosecuting him/them.
