Two Dallas police officers have been shot in downtown Dallas, an officer at the scene tells NBC 5.
The extent of their injuries are not known.

The shootings took place as a rally and march in downtown was ending that showed solidarity for communities affected by officer-involved shootings this week in Louisiana and Minnesota.

Several hundred people gathered at Belo Garden Park in Dallas and marched to the Old Red Courthouse near Main and Market streets, where the rally ended just before the shots rang out nearby at about 9 p.m.

There is no word on whether any civilians have been shot.

seems like it was a sniper, multiple controlled shots. The police have him cornered, talking.

But there was no need to tell us; because we already knew that you would, and what they would be, from your past posting history.

Your suspicions are predictable and boring, as well as being premature and assholish. Perhaps you could keep them to yourself, at least until you have a shred of hard evidence to support them, instead of spamming the board with the same old crap you post in half the threads in this forum?

Of course, the next time you choose to show such sensible and reasonable restraint will be the first, so I won't hold my breath.
 
Even Republican Representative Pete Sessions is reporting that the protest march (of about 500) was very peaceful with no tensions between police and public.

Lawrence O'Donnell making a very good but tragic point - these Dallas police officers very purposely were NOT wearing their Kevlar and riot gear because they were purposely trying to do exactly as we've been asking - being part of the community, being less militaristic.

And this happens.

Same here.

Live press conference now - they are saying one of the snipers is telling them there are bombs planted and that more lives will be lost.

This is looking like a highly coordinated attack, and the shooters were very good. Eleven police officers hit, 4 dead - yet so far it appears that civilian injuries were not from gun fire.
 
The local news is saying that at least ten police officers have been shot by two snipers from elevated positions in nearby buildings, and four of them are dead. The news seems to keep changing every hour. There are supposedly a few suspects that are in custody now, but I don't think the Dallas police know what is going on right now.
