Vaping Kills!

He drew his vaping device like a gun. Suicide by cop.
What independent evidence do you have that indicates this victim wished to die?

What independent evidence do you have that you actually think about what you post rather than simply blindly post an attack no matter how irrational?

What else would you call it when someone emulates a gun at the police???

Obviously, it wasn't the device that was the threat. He allegedly whipped it out of his pocket and went into a shooting position. If officers have no cover, I can understand that being perceived as a direct threat to their and bystanders. Once video is released, it will give a better understanding to the events.
The only this makes any sense is if the officers fired without knowing what was in his hand. I find that a disturbing explanation.

Which only describes your level of understanding of the situation.

The cops do not have time to determine if the gun-like object is really a gun or not. By the time they carefully figured it out they would be dead if the threat was real.

I simply asked for any actual evidence to support your claim and, as usual, you evade with a personal attack. You're the one pulling assumptions of his ass, not me.

Assuming that is what occurred, given the person has mental health issues, it could be he was copying the police (who had no business pointing weapons at an unarmed person who was not attacking or threatening anyone) or fooling around or any number of explanations.

Your handwaving of "suicide by cop" is the equivalent of saying "Satan made him do it" or "It was God's will". It may make you feel better, but it is not an explanation that any halfway intelligent and rational person would accept as reasonable.

And your willingness to dismiss the unnecessary killing of someone.

First of all that is untrue. Second, it is their job to determine this stuff and to put themselves in harm's way. Third and finally, an unarmed civilian who actually posed no real danger to anyone and who was not committing any serious crimes is unnecessarily killed because the police shot first and then looked.

They have released a picture of the vaper vaping.

If it's true that Scott was mentally disabled, then this picture should not exist.

We *know* that they should have known that he was, and we also know that pointing a gun at such a person is absolutely not the correct thing to do, as the mentally disabled will often simply imitate what is done around them, particularly if the cop is yelling or some such. In other words, this is a complete system failure, particularly since the police department involved *does* have a unit that is trained to deal with the mentally disabled.

Reportedly, at least as of yesterday, that unit was already deployed elsewhere.

This guy was also a felon with an illegal weapons charge, so maybe they decided against sending some guys with a big butterfly net to get him.

Sure, because they knew all of that before they shot him.

Then they should have simply contained the situation - without guns drawn - until the unit could arrive

Holy fuck, Raven. Do you think these thoughts actually occur to small town cops operating with low pay and a high school education?

Yes, I know. I am probably expecting too much for people not to be shot dead in the streets for no reason when it could be avoided with better training and less systemic biases.

I would hope that basic human decency and understanding abides in everyone, regardless of training and pay.

In speederfundus we have 700 full time citizens and three cops. The least paid gets $45K a year for having AA degree and 400 hours training at the State Police Academy. We pay $400K property tax levy in addition to 200K general fund contribution for our police force. Yes we have a Hummer. They bring in about $300K in traffic citations a year. That's why speederfundus.
