Why not? A couple generations later, nobody would have known him so what difference would it have made from that point on if he was real or fictional?

Even if Jesus did get married at 33, how on Earth would anyone prove it? We can't even establish that he was a real person, so good luck proving which marriage certificate (assuming they had such things back then) was his.
 
The golden plates from which Joseph Smith claims he translated the book of Mormon were fictional, yet millions of people today believe they were real. This argument that people aren't gullible enough to believe a fabrication is just about as lame an argument as can be imagined. All the evidence lies squarely to the contrary of that argument.

Plus, Joseph Smith died for his beliefs! People won't die for something they know is a lie, right!
That means the LDS MUST be true!
