Why didn't you guys tell me?

I'm told that this whole homosexual movement is created by the Left for the express purpose of destroying the traditional family. I suppose I should have realized...

I mean, I have a gay son. He's still my son, still lives in my house, and does his chores as poorly as his twin...

The guy who tells me about 'destroying traditional families' also has a gay son. Or, he had one. He kicked the kid out the same day he learned about his orientation. That act became a bone of contention between him and his wife. They aren't formally separated or anything, but she took their daughter and went to live at her mother's place.

So, I guess the Left's attack on the family is 50-50. One family destroyed out of two...

And we couldn't even reach that stat without the help of the intolerant traditionalists. So, naturally, I had to thank him for helping us in the Cause.

What do we give him, a medal? Or a T-shirt? "I helped destroy a traditional family for Leftists" or something?

Well, disowning children who disappoint you and living in awkward tension with your unloved spouse from that point onward is a fairly traditional behavior in English society, especially if they are sons and therefore stand to inherit otherwise. "Heir and a spare", yes? Perhaps that is what he means. In that case yes, I and the other decloseted gays (and I feel quite comfortable speaking for all of us on this particular point) I am absolutely in favor of destroying traditional family values. Disownment hurts, especially disownment for something that is not entirely your fault.

Abortion and sexuality are cheap political rally points for conservative Christians. It costs nothing and has a big unifying effect. All; s a candidate has to say is I am anti abortion and anti gay and he or she has immediate buy in.

I hear it in the bible facility bible meetings in the place I live. Intense anger and hatred of those outside. It is cathartic for Christians and just plain makes them feel righteous and good. We/they are under assault by the evil forces outside us. 'they' are out to get us-me.

It gives a nobody who assumes the title of reverend a sense of power and importance. To me it is as simple as that.

No, not values. He insists it is The Family (nuclear, traditional, smallest functional unit of a democracy*) that we are specifically targeting for destruction.

*Which made me ask how the family voted on kicking the kid out of gghe house, but apparently the smalllest unit of democracy is 'my house, my rules.'

If I remember correctly, the divorce rate among evangelicals is higher than it is for atheists and Jews.
One possible explanation for this is that evangelicals tend to marry at a younger age (If they want to have sex with someone, they are suppose to marry them.)

Indeed, what better way for gay people to get children than by inducing other families to kick them out, ready-made?

No less a social philosopher than Howard Stern made an appropriate rejoinder to the Mormons et al. who were pushing prop 8 in California back in '08. Paraphrasing: You folks want to end what you call 'special rights' for gays and squelch gay marriage, to bring us back to traditional 1950s style public morality. In that case you want closeted gays who feel pressured to marry hetero women, leading to horrible failed marriages and no end of social disruption. Because that's what a lot of gay men (and women) did in the era before they could self-identify honestly. The hetero partners suffered as much if not more as their gay spouses.
