Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

I got a chuckle out of Trumpo's rant about Abdul El-Sayed in Vegas: "He's a man of hate." This, out of the most abusive mouth in American politics. Later, I watched Nicole Wallace's show. She showed another clip from Vegas and asked Elizabeth Warren to comment. In the clip, Trump says of El-Sayed: "He's full of shit." Neither woman commented on the crude language. This, surely, is a measure of how Trump has debased the country, and how much he absolutely disrespects his office.
Even ten years ago, hearing this from a President would have touched off a media storm. Now, we just expect it of him. I think of all the churchy, country club Repubs I know (my family tree is crawling with 'em), and how I've heard them disdainfully comment on how liberals have degraded the moral standards of the nation. Their hero is this foul-mouthed con man and serial liar. I saw one proper lady in this town proudly wearing an "I'm Voting for the Felon" shirt, back in '24. This is a cancer in the country, and it will require repeated surgeries to root it out -- if it can be rooted out.
Assuming Trump leaves office, this is one of my great concerns. That is, will we be able to return to civil discourse, no matter how disingenuous it might be.

The hypocrisy is something that's always been there, particularly with respect to fundies and Catholics, so that'll never change, but goddammit, in any of our daily lives we'd be cooked if we spoke like Trump did. I swear a lot, but I'd never do so in my line of work publicly. I save that for behind the scenes stuff. Yet somehow the most powerful man in the world says and has provably done the most obscene things and his buttsuckers either love it or justify by fictional Whataboutisms.

God, I hate that motherfucker. My best friend is a Trumpite and Christian. We've agreed to not discuss politics, but I have forever lost a ton of respect for him.

Ok. tRump is having the Art of war and Peace regilded.
No bid contract for $5.1 million.
They are 20 feet tall.
The man on the top of the Oregon State Capitol is 23 feet tall.
The last time it was gilded it took 11.5 oz. of gold.
At spot today of $4,350 that would be $50,025.
How thick is this gilding?

Gold leaf is typically about 100 nanometres (1/250,000 of an inch) thick.

You can cover a lot of area with a fairly small amount of gold.

Troy, or avoirdupois? 11.5 avoirdupois ounces would be about 12.6 troy ounces, and it is the latter in which gold spot prices are quoted.

Of course, that implies that it should also be the latter in which the mass of gold used should be quoted - but trusting any politician to avoid a handy and deniable equivocation, that allows them to pretend a pet project is ~10% cheaper than it actually is, would be highly unwise.

I got to use gold leaf in high school physics. You can see light though it. The articles I read on it used the word "covered" not gilded. So, how thick is it?
Gilding is a very specialized trade but, $5.1 mil?

The Donald is very emphatic lately, about not wanting “to be Herbert Hoover”.
If you’re reading this, Donald, please be reassured that you need not worry about being Herbert Hoover.
HH was an effective humanitarian and capable administrator. You are whatever the opposite of humanitarian is, and your lack of administrative capability will likely be the thing for which you are most remembered - if you are remembered at all, once the remnants of your gaudy lack of taste is erased.
Nope, you’ll be in a class of your own, and that is the ONLY class you’ll ever have. The worst president, the most anti democracy president, the most selfish president, the most insecure president, the stupidest president … lots of superlatives, and none of them flattering. You better go blow up some defenseless shithole, before conversation turns back to your child-raping career with Sir Jeffrey.

Wow! He was with Gary Player, playing golf... instead of fixing his fuck up in Iran or paying a bit more attention to the job losses in the US at the moment.

Wearing a hat with USA on it doesn't actually mean you are doing your job.

So, less than 24 hours after Todd is confirmed he tries to give tRump immunity from IRS audits!
An IRS employee union has filed a suit.
Please someone wake me up from this nightmare.

I'd like to ask the Trumpophiles I know about this immunity from IRS oversight deal. But I kind of know the blather I'd get: Trump was the victim of witch hunts, blah blah blah blah blah. I'll probably never bring it up, unless one of them reacts to one of my message shirts and wants to get into it. If this immunity deal goes through, don't ever let anyone tell you again that no one is above the law.
Doesn't anyone have standing to challenge this nonsense?

An IRS employee union is suing by claiming that this deal is illegal and if they follow the terms of the deal they would be forced to break the law. If they don't follow it they are subject to being fired.

I used to work for a company that supplies meals to major carriers (Pourshins/Executive Lounge Services), I don't believe I ever heard of anyone sending out a truck just to deliver one portion of chicken before.

It is more evidence of Trump's cowardice and not having any duty of care for others, that when he feared that Air Force One, which had a bunch of White House staffers and journalists aboard, may be shot down (unlikely) by Iran, that he secretly transferred himself to a different plane.
It also shows a lack of decorum and proper protocol. Could you imagine Obama (or any other POTUS) doing this? Of course not.

And taking care of the sailors on the Abraham Lincoln.
