Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

If you ask them why they voted for Trump, they would likely tell you that they don't want to become a socialist country.
Which means that the recent embrace of "socialism" by parts of the Democratic Party was very much counterproductive.

Yes,...and I hope that those Alabama voters are getting a warm fuzzy feeling of owning libs as the money that they already spent was deducted from their account by uncle Donald.

So we went from Rubio sayubg US criminals could go to El Salvador to Trump wants to permanently displace millions of people to buy Trump Gaza.

I am so confused.
Forced mass relocations are hardly a new addition to the fascism ouvre.
Argh!

We need an "agree" as I'm not willing to press "like" on something like this.

I found some government waste for Trump:

$500 million worth of food assistance already paid for going to waste from cancellation of USAID

but if you fire the inspector general who reports the waste i guess the waste doesn’t exist

Trump cut off package delivery from China.

And then he didn't.

Pussy.
Yeah, there's simply too much that will break. The fundamental problem is that we have not been charging import duty on things below $800. (I believe this is the threshold for a returning traveler, but I haven't kept track of the number as we're never near it.) It makes commerce go a lot smoother and the capacity simply doesn't exist to charge import duty on all the small stuff, nor is it economic in most cases (which even happens with travelers--my understanding is that if you're a bit over but nice about it they're likely to waive it. Same as one day the IRS sent me a letter, disagreeing with a little detail on my tax return, recalculating the tax and then saying that what they felt I owed was small enough that they were zeroing it out as not economic to collect.) He tried to simply turn off that under $800 exemption and discovered that things break when you do that.

Can you buy brown eggs, if you're MAGA?
My wife was asked if the brown eggs were like the white ones. (Some of us had noticed a price inversion, the brown eggs hadn't shot up like the white ones.) My wife happened to be the one looking at the eggs when he asked. The other customers buying brown ones had already picked their cartons and left. Apparently in time enough people learned they're the same except for the shell and now the prices are pretty much in sync.

Doesn't mean the MAGAs are the ones doing it, though--all it takes is enough recognizing the arbitrage situation to correct any such market errors. Even if not a single MAGA bought a brown egg the market would adjust.

Trump makes a fool of himself again.

Trump stops aid do South Africa and offers refugee status to rich privileged white people in South Africa.
How exactly are white South Africans "privileged"? Blacks hold all the political power, and are threatening to expropriate land owned by white farmers.
It looks like crazyfingers post also used the word “rich” but you seemed to have missed that.
Crazy said "rich" but that doesn't mean the problem is limited to the rich. I haven't paid much attention to just how badly they're fucking up down there but I could easily see looking to escape and it's only the rich ones that would actually be able to do so.

Yes the small minority own the vast majority of the land and are far more wealthy than black majority. Note that South Africa only eliminated their version of Jim Crow in the 1990s.
But they replaced it with a mess. Just because the new rulers were the same race as most of the people didn't make it any better for the people. It was very much a matter of frying pan to the fire.

He rants about the $36 trillion in debt, $6 trillion of which came from him.
Half of that also occurred in 2020 alone as a direct result of the COVID Pandemic. Also, Biden's post-Pandemic deficits have been higher than than Trump's pre-Pandemic deficits.
Of course, deficits have been a bipartisan affair in Washington. But Trump hasn't been exceptionally profligate, except for the Pandemic, and that spending was rightly bipartisan.
You realize that Biden was saddled with The Felon's tax cut? We aren't saying that The Felon was a profligate spender, but that he cut the revenue side and ran up the deficit.

Trump said this evening that he is going to write an executive order to ban paper straws. I kid you not! Fuck. We need more plastic for our oceans and our brains. That’s the ticket.
The paper straw fas has thankfully diminished over the last few years, so the executive order is a bit of grandstanding.
However, these things had been an abomination.
Plastic straws do not account for all that much plastic garbage by mass, and the paper straw were a much inferior product. They were flimsy and had a weird mouth feel.
Better would be to develop biodegradable polymers for single use applications rather than replacing them with inferior alternatives that people will hate. Same goes for plastic bag bans in many places.
I have some metal straws; reusable, and dishwashable. I don't recall how, why, or where I obtained them.
For home use metal or silicone or some combination thereof is the right answer. But they're not so practical for restaurants and certainly not for fast food places.

Why not just ban ALL straws? Just gulp (or sip, if that's your thing) your drink down. That's what I do. At fast food joints, they always give me a plastic straw wrapped in paper (and a plastic lid too) with my cup and it usually ends up like that as I dump my trash in the bin. Do people use straws at home to drink a glass of water or milk? If not, why do you need one at a FF joint or a cafeteria?

Someone should investigate this straw nonsense. Maybe Big Straw is getting kickbacks or something.
Depends on what you're drinking out of. From a glass, fine, I don't need a straw. From a paper drink cup, I most certainly want a straw because the cup will not be rigid without the lid in place.

And at home...beside me sits a bottle of water. With a straw. It's built into the bottle. Non-spillable, insulated. Considerably superior.

Brown eggs are mostly cage free and not as impacted as the caged hens.

Wow, this is fucking awkward...

Can't seem to find a video of this on Twitter for some reason...

If that is legitimate, this indicates Musk clearly and outwardly expresses he thinks he is President. Obviously 4 year olds don't care about these things unless their parents talk about it.

Meanwhile, an estimated 98 undocumented people have been flown to Guantanamo Bay Prison... America's most expensive prison... that we are aware of. And apparently, they are just making stuff up as they go.

“There should have been a greater degree of planning before the execution. Now execution has begun, and everyone is trying to back into planning,” another source with knowledge of the situation told CNN.

“Everybody is fighting for command and control and direction,” the source added.

It’s unclear how the administration is choosing people to be transferred. So far, all have been men and all deemed to have what was described as “criminality,” one source familiar said, ranging from being alleged members of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang to more basic immigration law violations.

“In addition to holding violent gang members and other high-threat illegal aliens, Guantanamo Bay is also holding other illegal aliens with final deportation orders. Every single alien at Guantanamo Bay has a final deportation order,” a senior Homeland Security official said in a statement to CNN, adding: “All these individuals committed a crime by entering the United States illegally.”

High-risk detainees are being held in the base’s maximum-security prison, while others with final removal orders are being held at the migrant operations center, the official said.
You know, seeing that this just started being a migrant place, I can only imagine how makeshift the operations center is. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. It is unclear who is providing security, paying for this, has custody of the prisoners, and how the military is involved. Currently appears to be a legal via chaos because no one is in charge, but the money will run out.

If we are moving toward a model in which the federal government no longer provides assistance to Americans, then I guess these people should look for support from their local government, or communities, or gofundme pages.
The heartless side of me says that if they voted for Trump, they got what they deserved. If you ask them why they voted for Trump, they would likely tell you that they don't want to become a socialist country.
I have had conversations with several Trump supporters and not a one was concerned about socialism. The wealthy one wanted more tax breaks for himself. The middle class older ones honestly believed that trump cared about people like them. Too much Newsmax I guess and several believed that Biden was purposely sending criminals across the border. Stupidity again. The one who lives across the street said he hated both candidates but voted for Trump anyway. He's almost 80 and probably gets most of his income from SS. The religious ones voted for Trump because they oppose abortion etc. I doubt these people even know what the word socialism means. They just believed the Trump bullshit. Oh, and based on a conversation with a Black male who works with some Black Trump supporters, I kind of think they supported him for the macho image he tried to portray. Not sure, but my friend was very upset with his coworkers. People voted for the felon for all kinds of stupid reasons. I can't explain the ones who still have their trump signs up. I guess they are hardcore members of the cult.

You can find the video on Snopes, though:

Unpacking claims Musk's son told Trump to 'shush' and 'go away'

The truth is that it's not possible to hear the entirety of what X said, and it's unclear exactly where he was looking while speaking. Musk's voice masked the audio of his son's voice, and what X said is only partially discernible.

The first claim of this two part claim — that he said "you're not the president … you need to go away" (at minute 1:48) — is not an accurate claim. The only words we can accurately confirm are "to go away." Although he appeared to look at Trump at first, his gaze drifted while he spoke.
The second part to this claim — that he said "I want you to shush your mouth" (at minute 19:14) — may be partially accurate. While it does sound like he said "I want you to shush your mouth," he was not looking at Trump at any point while saying this, but beyond him, likely where reporters stood. The only person audibly speaking at the time was Musk.
We ran the audio through audio-splitting software Vocal Remover and reached the same results.

In conclusion, at this time there is simply no way to determine the entirety of what X said or to whom he said.

That's the whole point of Guantanamo. They needed a "beyond legal" place to put certain kinds of prisoners such that they would never be obliged to act on their case, and were willing to drop billions to make it happen.

The "war on terror" had somewhat of a blank check from Congress so the economics worked out. Trump doesn't have that with these people (and I can't imagine he'd get it), whomever they are. What it is $30k or $80k a day per prisoner to be down there? Once the people aren't getting paid, things start getting interesting.

I find the brown egg shells to be a bit more brittle and get into the edible part of the eggs easier.

Just buying eggs today. The price has gone up about 5 percent compared to when I bought two weeks ago.

Thanks, Don.
