Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

Oh wait. Trump and company want Americans to have more babies! Glad I'm too old to have children. Pretty soon birth control will be outlawed and women will be forced to get married and get pregnant. We're going back to the late 19th Century.

The White House has been hearing out a chorus of ideas in recent weeks for persuading Americans to get married and have more children, an early sign that the Trump administration will embrace a new cultural agenda pushed by many of its allies on the right to reverse declining birthrates and push conservative family values.

One proposal shared with aides would reserve 30 percent of scholarships for the Fulbright program, the prestigious, government-backed international fellowship, for applicants who are married or have children.

Another would give a $5,000 cash “baby bonus” to every American mother after delivery.

A third calls on the government to fund programs that educate women on their menstrual cycles — in part so they can better understand when they are ovulating and able to conceive.

Those ideas, and others, are emerging from a movement concerned with declining birthrates that has been gaining steam for years and now finally has allies in the U.S. administration, including Vice President JD Vance and Elon Musk. Policy experts and advocates of boosting the birthrate have been meeting with White House aides, sometimes handing over written proposals on ways to help or convince women to have more babies, according to four people who have been part of the meetings who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.

Gifted article. Didn't the Trump cult criticize Harris for wanting to help out new mothers? The Trumpers want more babies but they want to decrease or end the programs that help poor families. It would be so much easier and better to bring in more immigrants of all kinds along with their kids. That would make the country more interesting, and diverse, but of course the white Christian nationalists want none of that. They want women to be submissive, stay at home moms. Fuck these asshloes. Even my conservative Christian mother was a working mom and I was proud of her for having a job, which was fairly unusual in the 50s. It helped my parents save lots of money and it helped my mom be more independent.

This is only part A of the agenda. Part B will be the forced sterilizations of the "undesirables".

Also, they are talking about giving out medals to mothers with at least 6 children. Where have I heard of that idea from?

A while back Trump signed an EO directing the Department of Transportation to prioritize highway finding to locations with the highest marriage and birth rates.

Way back, families had 5-10 kids because the kids would take over the farm and support the parents in their old age. That time is never coming back.

What would get people to have more kids?

Affordable child care
Affordable health insurance
Family leave
Affordable food
Affordable post high school education (college or trade)
A future when climate change has been addressed and there is hope for a livable planet

What is Trump/MAGA/GOP doing to make any of those things better? Nothing. They are making them worse.

Oh no. Now he's harming the coal workers while trying to bring back coal. Fuck Trump and the horse he rode in on.

Trump touts ‘clean coal’ — but cuts programs that protect miners

A federal program that screens coal miners for black lung disease has been shuttered because of layoffs and budget cuts.

Emory “Curly” Carter sometimes feels like he can’t breathe. Household chores, such as cleaning and gardening, leave him gasping for air, making him feel like he has a “real bad” case of pneumonia.
After nearly four decades working in underground coal mines, Carter was diagnosed with black lung, a deadly and incurable disease caused by inhaling coal dust over a long period. Now, the 70 year-old worries that the Trump administration’s steep cuts to health and safety programs will endanger the next generation of miners across the coalfields of West Virginia, Kentucky and Virginia.

Emory “Curly” Carter, 70, holds his miner’s cap.

Carter’s first paycheck stub as a miner. The check was dated Oct. 18, 1975, and was for two weeks of work. It was for $424.30.

At the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH),the division of the Health and Human Services Department that provides free black lung screenings for coal miners, Trump appointees fired roughly two-thirds of the staff this month. There are no employees left to run the screening program in the agency’s office in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Trump officials at the Labor Department’s Mine Safety and Health Administration, which protects against mine safety risks and disasters, have delayed enforcement of a landmark rule limiting miners’ exposure to coal dust. The agency also is considering shuttering 35 offices nationwide, leaving only two offices to inspect and monitor more than 100 mines in Kentucky.
Taken together, these moves threaten to bring more disease and death to coal-dependent communities across Appalachia, miners and advocates say. They come despite Donald Trump’s recent executive orders aimed at boosting “beautiful, clean coal,” which the president signed while flanked by more than two dozen miners wearing hard hats.

The White House has begun the process of looking for a new secretary of defense, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly.

Turns out a DUI hire isn't such a good idea after all.

But who will replace him? Tucker Carlson? Laura Loomer?

Boris and Natasha from The Bullwinkle Show.
Or Mr. Big from KAOS, in Get Smart.
Someone from TV anyhow.

My local grocery. An Albertson's chain. They've been about the same for the last few months I believe.

Better than our Albertsons. About a wash against our Smith's (part of Kroger.) But that's normal--our Albertons tends to have better deals than Smiths but their non-sale prices are a bit higher.

What's with the egg prices? $4.49/12 at the closest store to me.
Whenever Shady Vance goes to a store, the SS advance team makes them put out $1.99 signs in front of the eggs.
I mean people on here giving far higher egg prices than I'm seeing.

Internet shows prices state-by-state:
Nevada

Cost of a dozen eggs in March 2025: $6.07
Compared to 2025 national average: 23.9% above
The same page politely suggests that the President vowing to cut food prices is a nitwit.

Our beloved HHS czar has a plan for chickens, though "experts" dislike his plan:
With H5N1 avian influenza spreading in poultry flocks, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is pushing a new plan: let the virus rip.

Kennedy recently told Fox News that by letting the highly pathogenic bird flu spread through flocks, farmers could “identify the birds, and preserve the birds, that are immune to it.”

But poultry experts say that, in addition to causing an unimaginable poultry death toll, this plan wouldn’t work.

“No, not for this disease,” says Rocio Crespo, a poultry veterinarian at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. “This is crazy.”

How Bird Flu Impacts Farms

Farmers must currently cull infected flocks to contain the disease before it spreads. They’re financially compensated for the culled birds by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The policy is supported by science because highly pathogenic avian influenza is so deadly on its own, killing 90 to 100 percent of chickens in three or four days, says Matt Koci, an immunologist and virologist at North Carolina State University’s poultry science department.

The disease overwhelms birds, Crespo says. “It’s devastating,” she says. “It’s a disease that attacks every single organ.”

As a result, the chickens never develop the antibodies that would beat back the flu and give them the ability to survive a second encounter with the virus —they die too quickly. That means there is little for scientists to study to develop treatments or uncover some genetic secret to resistance, Koci says. Genetic resistance in chickens and turkeys “is not a thing,” he says.

In the Trump administration incompetence is a virtue.

The market is desperate to believe anything. Bessent says this tariff thing is unsustainable and the market goes up. Rumors Trump might lower tariff to half, markets go up. They aren't even waiting for viable actions at this point.

First world problems, but I might not be buying a video game system because of the President of the United State's reckless tariff policies. My ability to purchase things has rarely been negatively impacted directly by the actions of a President. We've had recessions and slow economies, but that was either slow burn policy or outside circumstances. Trump is directly impacting my ability to buy stuff. That is fucked up.
