Mass shootings by white men, as well as Right-wing domestic terrorism, have become events akin to those in the classic comedy Groundhog Day.

Unfortunately, there is nothing humorous or funny about how white Right-wing domestic terrorists have shot up Jewish community centers, planted bombs, seen a spike in their numbers since the election of Barack Obama, are coddled and encouraged by the Fox News echo chamber and the Republican Party, and now--with Tea Party regalia, Nazi bonafides, yelling "this is a revolution!"--they kill three people during a brazen daylight attack on Sunday in Las Vegas, Nevada

What exactly is "tea party" regalia?

Ladies and gentlemen

Alex Jones

http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/06/09/alex-jones-alleges-that-las-vegas-cop-ambush-wa/199644

On the June 9 edition of The Alex Jones Show, Jones claimed "the country is being purposefully imploded right now," before calling the shootings "absolutely staged." Jones continued stating, "There is so much proof of this being staged yesterday, when I first read about it, and this morning, that my mind exploded with hundreds of data points, and quite frankly it's conclusive." He then claimed that the shooting bore out some of the "hundreds of predictions" that he had made "since the Bundy ranch situation," including a scenario where a shooting is blamed on the Tea Party. Towards the end of the segment, Jones named Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) and referenced actions by the Obama administration in purporting to identify the actual parties responsible for the Las Vegas police ambush. He concluded, "I kept telling, they're getting ready to false flag, and it happens right in Harry Reid's district, right in his state, right in his city, with his police department":

Quasi-military wannabe clothing, an assault weapon in inappropriate situations (which, of course, is not intended to be threatening in any way) and a bible.

And what does CNN have to say?

Not the words "right wing terrorists"

http://www.alternet.org/media/why-n...001024&t=5&paging=off&current_page=1#bookmark

takes no degree of sophisticated insightfulness to conclude the obvious: that the Millers are right wing extremists, identifying with Tea Party anti-government views, coupled with a severe case of Obama Derangement Syndrome. It’s also reported that the Millers were among those in attendance at the Cliven Bundy ranch, when right wing extremists, egged on by Fox News, pointed assault rifles at U.S. federal agents.

But don’t expect CNN to include the prefix “right wing” to the use of the word extremism or terrorism, for their, and the mainstream media’s, fear of the right wing hysteria machine is ever present and always palpable. In fact, CNN refused to identify the Tea Party flag. Dan Simon of CNN went so far as to avoid the far right’s wrath that he said the killers “left behind some type of flag with some kind of insignia.” The cable network’s 24/7 ticker feed reads, “Killers had extremist views.”

No, CNN, the killers had RIGHT WING extremist views. That is established and clearly evident. Wolf Blitzer asked a guest, “What kind of anti-government groups are associated with this type of extremism?” Again, that much is obvious. The right-wing of today’s Republican Party is in itself an anti-government group, and has been ever since Goldwater Republicans became the loudest voice in the GOP’s shrinking tent, culminating with Reagan’s, “Government is not part of the solution. Government is the problem.”

In the first 36 hours since the shooting, CNN has used the following words and terms to discuss the shooting: “extremism,” “extremist domestic groups,” “radical groups,” anti-government groups and individuals,” but not once has the term “right wing” or any mention of the Tea Party been uttered.

Until there is a consensus over sensible and reasonable gun control emerges in this country, these tragedies will continue. I find it hard to believe that there is not a middle ground between the Wayne LaPierre over the top nuttery of no controls and absolute banning of such weapons. I guess we will have to endure many more such tragedies until the nation can come together to deal with this.

Kill all of the white people, of course.

There really is no other solution.

Agreed.

Kill all of the white people, of course.

Not all white people are caucaso-terrorists. The great majority of white people are the peace loving sort who just want to get the rent paid on time.

Yes, but they do not have a history month, so they don't matter.

And what does CNN have to say?

Not the words "right wing terrorists"

Detecting "terrorism" is easy. Just ask yourself the following questions:

1. Did armed zealots attack and kill innocent civilians?

2. Did the attackers commit suicide in the attack?

3. Were the attackers brown people?

If you answered "yes" to at least one of these questions labeled #3, then you have real terrorism. If not, then it is just a lone gunman (and sometimes his girlfriend).

The real tragedy here is that more mental health services were not available for these two clearly disturbed individuals. *

Maybe CNN's initial reporting didn't include "right wing", but this commentary includes it. Though Peter Bergen didn't point out that the flag is a favorite of the tea partiers...

It's okay. NBC used it.

Ha!

Are we sure that white people are overrepresented as shooters in gun killings?

Or are we just operating based on biases and preconceptions?

Athena,
data does not support your racist prejudice. There are more blacks committing murder than whites, despite there being many more whites than blacks, according to FBI.

The latter.

pre

conceptions?

We are operating on observations of what happens to those who use guns in killings. We find that most blacks are either killed or go to prison after they use a gun to kill a white whilst whites who kill blacks, not so much.

Perhaps its your biases and

pre

conceptions being examined here.

3. Were the attackers brown people?
Because this guy was never ever labeled as a terrorist.

Unless it's self defense (like the Trayvon Martin shooting) whites also go to prison for shooting blacks.

Well, since it happened once 19 years ago I guess that means there's nothing to see here!
