John Bolton said Trump would have pulled the US out of NATO in the first year of his second term.

Ukraine would probably not exist, and if it did, there would be a Putin Puppet heading its goobermint. Zelenskyy would be dead or in jail, along with Hunter Biden.
Likewise, NATO would probably not exist, at least in any recognizable form.

Europe would likely have caved immediately, and let Pootey have Ukraine, hoping he wouldn't go after Lithuania or Poland next - which he would if his armies were still intact after seizing Ukraine, which they would be if Trump was President.

Ironically, things would be a lot more peaceful; the genocide that is taking place in Ukraine would still be happening, but quietly, and absent the bombs, missiles and Property Damage, which would be ultra fine with Republitards who are mainly concerned with the latter.

It's pretty simple...because Trump is a simple man. If this unfolded while he was still (shudder) President, the only thing he'd be thinking about is "how does this affect me?"

By all accounts, Trump is up to his chicken neck in debt to the Russians, so it is a good bet he would see the crisis through the lens of his own finances. On top of that, all Putin would have to do is manipulate him with carefully placed praise, and that would be it for Ukraine.

Like a lot of people, I thought "is that the best we can do?" when Biden won the nomination, but hey...it turns out that decades of foreign policy experience and geopolitical strategic thinking actually comes in handy sometimes. Also, Biden surrounded himself with folks who also had extensive foreign policy experience instead of sycophants, and when push came to shove, that paid off in spades.

It is easy to say that Trump was playing checkers while Biden has been playing chess, but saying that Trump was playing checkers gives him way too much credit. Gods he's dumb.

There wouldn't be a crisis if Trump were in charge. Of course, there wouldn't be a Ukraine either.

Oh, there'd be a crisis all right. It would probably be Poland, Romania, Lithuania…

Your statement does not align with the title.
Putin would have invaded Ukraine regardless of who was USA president. USA in or out of NATO is irrelevant.

The question is what the outcome would have been, not whether it would have happened.

Seriously?

Trump pulling out of NATO would make NATO cease to exist as any sort of meaningful body. If that happened, Putin would not have invaded Ukraine. He already has his satellite states by default.

I am surprised that you think that Putin would have not invaded Ukraine if NATO was ineffectual. He invaded Crimea in 2014 when Obama was president. And nothing meaningful was done about that by anyone. Putin acts the way he acts when he wants. He gives no indication that NATO means anything to him.

The outcome is that Putin would have invaded Ukraine. Who was US president at the times seems to be irrelevant
