What is so bad about Hillary Clinton?

Sanders can't win and the Dems have settled on Hillary.

Is she phony and insincere? Yes. She's also not likable. I'd much more prefer a Hillary who could just come out and say, "Oh, just shut the fuck up about me for once you bunch of sleazy assholes." She can't though. Republicans can get away with "Go fuck yourself," shooting others in the face, and threatening to throw reporters off balconies live on TV, but that shit's a no-go for Hillary.

Hillary does not come across as sincere because she has to play a role she knows is bullshit. No person is all things to all people. Yet she's been gritting her teeth and playing that idiot role ever since Bill ran for the White House. I remember her having to make cookies and the press then comparing her cookies to Barbara Bush's. For someone of tremendous intellect, strong ideals, and intelligence, it must have made her want to scream. And now, just in this moment, I understand why she still wants to be President after all of this bullshit she's been put through. She wants to win a second term and then start telling people to get fucked. Only then, when she is safe from ever having to run for office again, can she finally be real.

There is no one more qualified to be POTUS than she is. She was in the White House for 8 years, she's an attorney, a Senator, and the goddamn Secretary of State. She has been in this motherfucker for over 25 years now and she's got a hide 6 inches thick. Trump is supposed to be tough??? Put them in the octagon and Hillary wouldn't even bother to rip his comb-over off until she'd ripped his head off first---which would take her about 40 seconds.

Have all her decisions lined up with my ideology? Of course not. Oh well. If I want that to happen then I need to become POTUS, dissolve the bicameral and judicial system, and then make myself King of America. Then shit'll go my way all the time. Just think of how awesome that would be. But back here on Earth, that's not the way it works.

Bernie Sanders isn't electable at this time in American history. Get over it. A vote for Bernie is a vote that brings us one step close to a fucking Republican who will have the opportunity to appoint anywhere from 2-4 Supreme Court Justices. That's all you need to consider about who to vote for in the next Presidential Election. You wanna see your leftist ideology truly shit on from On High? Vote for Bernie and put another two Scalia's on the Court.

Hillary is the only option. Learn to live with it.

You don't seem to understand. We really have no more time to spend on these poor performing lying, self serving political smucks. We need real social policies and they will not be coming from Hillary, no matter how hard she tries to convince people she is on their side, in the end the old Hillary always makes it to the fore. I think the Democrats need to work with the candidate that has the best social policies and that clearly is NOT CLINTON. We have seen enough of that. If Hillary is the best the Democrats have, then we as a nation are in trouble and people will suffer for it. I don't want to live with something like a Hillary world, more wars, more global warming, and more politicians making huge profits.

Oh come on. This is a representative republic. We don't have Kings or benevolent enlightened dictators working with technocrats, social engineers, and philosophers. We're just a bunch of Jacks and Jills who kinda want to be left alone to do our own things who usually resist giving government money or power to do stuff to us. Things were socially a lot worse back in '86 when Rs and Ds got together to 'fix' the immigrant problem and the SS problem. So the ball got kicked down the road. Since then we've involved ourselves in the ME way too much and hidden from fixing anything until its gonna cost us a lot to getrdone.

What we need is someone who won't break the country but may begin to paint us out of our current corner. Hillary who is the wife of a previous pretty successful president seems a good bet to me. If all we have to do is put up with right wing hatred. Sobeit. She's one who has plenty of that experience.

I'm ready to be lead by one who actually knows that thugs who aren't state players are terrorists and one who will actually get state players to do what's in their own best interest.

Hillary brings us nowhere.

We march in place.

Bernie has a vision, not just ambition.

As much as I love Bernie and agree with his position on just about every issue, I shutter to think what he might do when challenged by an aggressive China or Russia. And he most definitely would be. When does push come to shove in Bernieworld? I need to know this.

You must admit, it would liven up the Democratic primaries.

Oh please. As if baking cookies is something intelligent people do not do...
And besides, I find the rumors of her tremendous intelligence ("smartest woman in America") to be wildly exaggerated. She isn't stupid by any means, but give me a break!
There is no one more qualified to be POTUS than she is.
Seriously? Most of her so-called experience is as wife of governor/president. Also, she wasn't very accomplished as Senator or SecState.
She was in the White House for 8 years,
I guess Candy Carson can do brain surgery by that logic. Or Ben can play the violin, whichever you prefer.
she's an attorney,
Can't swing a cat in DC without hitting a couple dozen.
a Senator, and the goddamn Secretary of State.
Those are her only real political positions. And SecState has been a dead end political position for the last 150 years.
She has been in this motherfucker for over 25 years now and she's got a hide 6 inches thick.
And she looks it. ;)

But let's compare her to some others. Bernie Sanders has been in Senate for the last 9 years, including a chairmanship (VA). Before that he represented Vermont at-large in the House for 16 years and was mayor of Burlington for 8 (an executive position btw).
Or take John Kasich for the Republicans. 5 years governor of Ohio, 18 years member of the House (including 6 as chairman of the budget committee), Ohio state senator.
Hillary is not even the most qualified candidate in the current election, much less most qualified in a long time (as some sycophants claim).
Trump is supposed to be tough??? Put them in the octagon and Hillary wouldn't even bother to rip his comb-over off until she'd ripped his head off first---which would take her about 40 seconds.
Quite aside from the fact that we should not be settling political disputes in physical combat a-la Hector vs. Achilles or something, you have to be quite a Hillary-bot to think she would be formidable in physical combat.

Bernie Sanders isn't electable at this time in American history. Get over it.
He seems to be doing quite well in head-to-head matchups against Republicans.
Sure, he is quite left and I disagree with him on many issues but voters like candidates who appear genuine rather than prepackaged mass-produced robots. That was the big problem for Mitt.

I think chances of a Hillary loss are quite high as well. Besides, consider that perceived-electability-über-alles brought us John F(ucking) Kerry. How did that work out for you?
I also detest this idea of an anointed candidate and that we can dispense with a vigorous primary process (DWS is doing everything in her power to smooth the path for her)
Hillary is the only option. Learn to live with it.
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Well, people though Obama was a peacenik before he was elected. He probably thought so himself.

I have to admit, there's part of me that wants to see her win just so folks who photo shopped the above picture will have their heads explode. They've whipped themselves into such an irrational tizzy over Clinton's seemingly inexorable march to the White House that it would be fun just to watch them lose their ever-loving minds as she's sworn in as the next President.

That aside, what's so bad about Hillary? Near as I can figure the oldest accusation in the book still rings true...she's a strong-willed woman and that just bugs the hell out of some people.

If she were a Republican man in a blue suit with a little American flag lapel pin and coiffed hair she'd be virtually indistinguishable from a whole host of candidates who've run in the past. Has she flipped some positions? Yep. Has some skeletons in her closet? Yep. Can be less than forthright if not downright dishonest? Yep. Is ambitious and comes across sometimes as cold and calculating? Yep. Chummy with big money donors? Yep.

Fact is, just about nothing her detractors have to say about her (with the possible exception of the endless Benghazi investigation) is all that remarkable. This is par for the course stuff for politicians at every level. She's pretty average, actually, yet there's something about her that causes right wingers to photo shop unflattering pictures of her while they secretly admire the fact that her vagina has bigger balls than they do.

For me she's Dick Cheney in a dress.

And isn't that how she wins?

Actually I disagree. She is nowhere near as bad as the big dick. Cheney isn't just a neocon. He's someone who cared nothing for the country but his own power. He ruined lives and careers to advance his single minded obsession of war with Iraq. He and Bush rode rough shod over the Constitution, and were hell bent on appointing the most conservative justices in the Supreme Court's history. Hillary is about 65,342 times better than Cheney. No comparison.

That's not to say I agree with her 100%. She'll never be very popular, but she will be a damn in the dike that Obama has been as well. The Republican alternatives are beyond scary.

You're pipe dreaming. She already has 257 EV pretty much locked up. Maybe she could lose 6 of those. But not the other 251. All she needs is either Virginia, or both Colorado and Iowa to push her over the top, and she doesn't even need Florida nor Ohio. And Obama took all of those in both 2008 and 2012. The demographics just don't look good for the repubs - even if they dump trump and go with Cruz or Rubio. Even Bush for that matter.

You are forgetting that Obama was a good campaigner and much more likable overall. Also, her latest bit of hispandering went over like a lead balloon. Reminds me of her blackspandering in the 2008 election. She's as fake as a $3 bill.

Well to be honest her supporters have whipped themselves up into a frenzy as well. I only posted the image in response to the "resistance is futile" tone of Colonel Sanders' post.
That aside, what's so bad about Hillary? Near as I can figure the oldest accusation in the book still rings true...she's a strong-willed woman and that just bugs the hell out of some people.
No, there are plenty strong willed women in politics. Most don't inspire such hatred, with the exception of Margaret Thatcher, and that comes from the Left.
For me the reasons are several:
- most of her experience is as wife of a politician. That would be like imputing executive experience to Joachim Sauer just by virtue of his marriage to Angela Merkel.
- her lack of political talent which becomes even more glaring in comparison to the Big Dog.
- her supporters insisting she is "most qualified candidate in our lifetimes" or "smartest woman in America" without any real merit to the assertions.
- her being able to skate on things like Emailgate. Rules are for commoners!

She's pretty average, actually,
Not according to her supporters!

Biggest problem - she is so hawkish that she made Obama look like a peacenik by comparison. And we all know Obama isn't one and never was one. He looked like one because in the primary he ran against Hillary and in the general he ran against McCain. In other words, he ran against McCain both times.

Second biggest problem - she is basically a nasty person. In 2008 some Democrats even discovered this, noticing the way she treated Obama in the primary. That's how she treats anyone who opposes her, so not all Republican hatred is irrational. Oh - this does NOT mean that all their hatred is irrational, I know someone will interpret it that way, but it does mean some of it isn't.

Third - she's a phony through and through. You can see it when she is required to display emotion. There is a momentary pause as she figures out "oh, emotion is required now." The only thing she's really good at displaying is aggressive tendencies ... much like how the only time Bush Jr. talked without an impediment was when he was talking about his own blood lust. Same thing. Look at the interview with Lena Dunham. Lena asked Hillary if she was a feminist. Hillary, with no emotion or inflection, replied that she was. Hillary didn't display any emotion until she saw Lena doing so, and then copied Lena's excited look.

Fourth - her economics is comfortable in either party, she's part of the whole Wall Street cartel. I don't expect good economics from Democrats, bad economics is their bragging point, but I expect them to be bad in a different way considering all their talk about being for the little people.

Fifth - she knew her husband sexually abused women. She showed her feminist cred by standing by him and defending him while he was doing so.

I think you are pipe dreaming if you think she is a shoo-in.

To which the reply would be, Clinton would be a republican president, even if she is republican-lite. The truth of the matter is this. Voting against the GOP and voting for a Democratic candidate that you are passionate about are two different things. In 2008, I was passionate about that campaign and I took leave from my job to work for the Obama campaign. I put thousands of miles on my car driving all over south eastern NC, canvasing, registering, speaking at rallies, answering questions, driving people to early voting, and I was a poll watcher on election day.

I did none of that on 2012. I just voted.

in 2016, I am backing Sanders.

I am not alone. People don't like Clinton or the fact that she is trying too hard

In 2016 you're going to vote for Sanders in the primary. What if he loses? Will you vote for Hillary in the general if she wins the primary? IMO, the reason why politicians ignore the left is that it is difficult getting them to vote in the general. Sure Hillary is to the right of Sanders, but she's far far to the left of the republicans. Call her republican lite if you'd like, but at the end of day she is: less likely to lead a full scale US invasion and occupation of Iraq and Syria, more likely to pay attention to Black Lives Matter (reps don't give a damn regarding BLM), will appoint left leaning supreme court justices, more likely to encourage investment in the US, more likely to favor democratic economic programs, won't be lowering taxes on the wealthy, and etc. and etc.

Derec and Jason and anti Hillary because they know that she has the best chance to beat Trump.

Isn't that the crux of the problem the left wing of the Democratic Party and the Sandersistas have with her?

She is what used to be called a moderate Republican, Obama too.

No more of them exist in the Republican party that has fallen off the tracks and is a very fringe and radical and dangerous party.

She voted to allow GW to just aggressively attack Iraq, as the nation cheered the deaths of innocent Muslims.
I was disappointed in her vote to attack Iraq. However, I understood it. She's a populist. I was against the Iraq invasion. I argued against it extensively on this forum. But I was in the minority. The vast majority of Americans were on board. We as a country were convinced by Bush that we must attack. I think that she's learned from her mistake and will be far more careful in the future. The republicans have not. They are doubling down. Some like Rubio, want the US to reinvade Iraq and go into Syria.
