What music are you listening to right now? (Warning: Lotsa videos)

So I met this kid today. Thought I'd check him out. As of right now, over 117 million views on You Tube just for this one song.

And I don't get it. I like hip hop. Used to play hip hop records on the radio in the 80s and 90s. Emceed shows with hip hop acts on the bill. I don't get this. Am I getting old? Or does this just suck?

It is ok, and yeah it hard to remember being the target age of this music. The incidental sound texture of this song is pretty nice, but the rap seems piss poor.

The director might be the bigger factor, he has another video with 500M views. Same lethargic rapping style. The best way to get mega views is if kids like it. People make millions just by opening toys on video. Kids flock together like mad.

I asked the same question on the Facebook, and a DJ co-worker said that his 14 year old cousins loved this guy's music.

Plus today my daughter started talking about her plans to make me a grandfather...

Looks like I'm officially old.
