Because that is exactly what we all think of each other when the other is on the other side.
Republicans are rambling fools. Democrats too. Americans in general if we disagree with their points of view.
Civil discourse has died. Maybe this place will be the exception, it would be grand if that turns out to be true.

I just responded to someone who posted the acronym TDS to explain away any criticism of Trump. THAT is so lame, it is laughable.
Meanwhile Joe sniffs hair, poops his pants, and falls asleep
It's like NO ONE wants to actually talk about policy, direction of the country, the future for our children, or discuss a topic with a level head and some researched material

It's all repeating whatever nonsense is spouted off on FOX or CNN.

So, I appreciate rambling fools, as you can all see, I started this thread rambling. But don't be a babbling fool. There IS a difference.

Thanks.

Nothing is true, everything is made up. Everything's literally made up.
Maybe this place will be the exception, it would be grand if that turns out to be true.

It may depend upon the topic itself. Civil discourse might be better if it rhymed.

RE: The BOLDED sentence - Trump is the one who all reliable media report, is pooping his pants (diapers), and who falls asleep, or have you so quickly forgotten (or didn't know) about his constant falling asleep during his fraud trial?
Also, away with this 'both sides' rubbish. It is the Republican Party who has shown an immense lack of civility and disregard of all political norms, since Trump gained ascendancy. I say this as a non-American looking in from outside.

It is also worth noting that the "Joe sniffs hair, poops his pants, and falls asleep" accusations are (more than likely) not organic. Political campaigns are not fortresses of ideologues who never approach the opponents gate unless it's the final battle. Yes, campaigns have their ardent partisans, but are also staffed with professionals who don't always stay loyal to one candidate or even one party. And they all talk to one another.

So when the "former Apprentice staffers say Trump wore diapers on set" story starts rumbling around the smear-o-sphere, it gets over to the Trump team really quick, and that leads to a counter attack. "Find a picture where Biden seems to be standing funny, and say it's because HE pooped his pants." The Democrats are planning a social media post prominently featuring Trump chumming around with Epstein? "Quick, find one of those pictures of Biden touching the shoulder of a young girl and go with the nickname 'Pedo Joe' right away!" Same thing happens on the other side. "I know a guy over at Heritage, and he said their boss is gonna give a humdinger of a speech Tuesday. Get ready to post the most damning clips Wednesday morning. Yeah, I'll have him post the whole video to a Google drive."

It seems like "rambling fools," but it's really just dirty gutter politics and trench warfare between people who'd probably take a job with the "other side" in a heartbeat if the money was right.

Yeah but also, the uncivility problem is not a both sides issue. One side has been getting more and more uncivil and it's the Republican party. You don't see democratic politicians calling for "second amendment solutions". Or calling for a theocracy.

I absolutely love this YouTube channel. Language to me is something very powerful, the more you understand it. Populist movements are very basic and primal.

THAT was an excellent ramble, I must say ;)

Yeah but also, the uncivility problem is not a both sides issue.
IT IS on both sides. We call THEM Nazis and Fascists. They call us Socialists, commies, woke, anti-American. ONE SIDE is MORE extreme, the MAGA side. SO yes, one side is worse, but does that give our side an excuse to be uncivil to them?
Uncivil, hell. They're trying to upend our system of voters, elections, peaceful transfer of power, majority rule.
Of course they are and we have to keep pointing that out. However, focusing on Trump's tan, or his weight, or how often he stumbles or walks awkwardly, or mocking him for riding around in a golf cart, is as immature as they saying Biden sniffs hair and poops his pants. That was the POINT of my OP. We can certainly challenge THEM on their world view and support of Trump, but it's the kindergarten grade insults and put downs that make us look just like them. Think about it.

I call them Nazis and fascists if they support someone who is clearly calling for a theocracy and they clearly don't care about that.

I have had this debate on other forums. Every Trump voter is now labeled with something. Why not just follow Clinton's example and call them ALL deplorables.
I will separate the extreme MAGA movement from the average everyday American who thinks the left has gone off the rails and Trump is still the better choice. MAGA is unapproachable. Those average everyday Americans might be approachable. Calling them names tells them we are intolerant of them as MAGA is intolerant of us.
SO...................... here is a little exercise for you. What are YOU going to say if swing voters or independents decide to favor Trump in November. Will THEY all be Nazis in your eyes????????

Should I care about labelling them if I'm going to be dead anyway?

When Trump was shot at, the left was aghast. When Nancy Pelosi's husband was attacked, the right laughed at Trump's jokes about it.

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Toleration of evil is not a virtue.
