Why Trump Will Win in 2020

A lot of driving yesterday and listened to a little Rush Limbaugh. He sounds like Alex Jones now. Says the whole recent testimony was an intricate and elaborate plot to derail the Justice Dept investigation into Biden in Ukraine. If Trump is booted from office, there very well could be violence from his supporters who want to drain the swamp with a bigger swamp.

And a lot of people will vote the orange buffoon because they believe all of this.

Trump didn't invent this stupidity. Trumpo happened because lots of people were and are just like Trumpo. Trumpo was just the one with the most money and the biggest mouth.
Trump was right place, right time for this lunacy... much the same as with Mussolini. The one minor difference is American conservatives couldn't bring themselves to vote for the adult in the race, the Democrat, when the alternative was Donald 'grab 'em by the pussy' Trump.

...
President Donald Trump complained about being treated “very badly” to explain why he had filed paperwork declaring himself a Floridian.
On Thursday evening, The New York Times reported on Trump’s decision.
“In late September, Mr. Trump changed his primary residence from Manhattan to Palm Beach, Fla., according to documents filed with the Palm Beach County Circuit Court. Melania Trump, the first lady, also changed her residence to Palm Beach in an identical document,” The Times reported. “Each of the Trumps filed a ‘declaration of domicile’ saying that the Mar-a-Lago Club, Mr. Trump’s resort in Palm Beach, will be their permanent residence.”
...

Flash! Trump is now officially a "Florida man". Calling all alligators. Calling all alligators.

Mar-a-Lago is probably his most lucrative property remaining, and he doesn't want to pay a capital gains tax when he sells it.

Considering how much time he spends there, it wouldn't be hard to make the case that it is his primary residence, even if you took him to court over it this afternoon.

I do hope we get to see those tax returns.

Like a long line of other wealthy New Yorkers, President Trump has decided to establish his legal residence in Florida, apparently at least in part to save money on taxes.

But changing one’s legal home is not so simple.

New York State has a platoon of state auditors who zealously examine whether people are trying to skirt paying its state and local taxes by improperly claiming that they live elsewhere.

Those officials regularly face off against an industry of accountants and lawyers who specialize in tax avoidance strategies.

Under state law, taxpayers who spend 184 days a year in New York — more than half the year — have to pay state taxes on all of their income. But even if a person does spend most of the year out of state, that is not enough.

It is not clear how much time Mr. Trump plans to spend in New York during the rest of his presidency or after he leaves the White House — or whether he plans to keep his triplex apartment in Trump Tower or sell it, a move that could figure in how New York evaluates his tax status.

And the burden of proof would be on him.

“Unlike the current impeachment hearings, where the burden of proof is on the House of Representatives, here the burden of proof is on the president to prove that he is no longer a New York resident,” said Michael Kosnitzky, who chairs the private wealth group at the law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. “The burden is squarely on him.”
There are seemingly reams of rules and endless ways taxpayers can be tripped up.

It won't be long before Trump threatens to sue the state of New York because he will likely still have to pay some taxes to New York.

And then there's this....

Mr. Trump is also said to be angered by a subpoena filed by Cyrus R. Vance Jr., the Manhattan district attorney, seeking his income tax returns, though changing his residence is not likely to affect the case.
