This talks about Chinese painting pigs black and other examples of fraud - 6 minutes in talks about "survival of the cunning" and lots of people raiding temple offerings. It talks about this behaviour being passed on to the next generation.

Spraypainting trees green and planting stones on metal bars:

Says "China is the land of shortcuts and facades" "if there's money to be made then why not?"

I think it is connected to Netflix's "How to Become a Tyrant" episode 4. It talks about the common people having connections and trust with others can be bad for tyranny.

Maybe that connection is intended or at least I think it is convenient for China's government.

Also all of this rule breaking, etc, could be used by the government against the people if they needed to.....

I would not say they are dishonest.

They create propaganda for their people.

They have no hidden agenda, they are quite plain and open about what they are doing and what they want.

They do not hide the fact that they steal intellectual property.

Back in the 90s they had a serious corruption problem, and were shooting people for it. Firing squads.

If you’re a pig buyer in China and someone tries to sell you a pig, would you not expect the seller to paint it black, rather than leave it to you to do it?

IOW, they are Not that different from our own home grown Republican Party

The last half of the second video makes you wonder if we in the western world are basically committing suicide as a society by spending all this money on tough auto emission standards, renewable energy, banning natural gas and its appliances, recycling, etc while China is basically destroying the planet's air and environment all on its own. Are we just doing all this to just feel good about ourselves knowing all this is going on on the other side of the world? Not sure what the answer is. Maybe China will self destruct as a society on its own first due to its own pollution, corruption and negative population growth.

China is actually a good bit ahead of us in renewable energy

And how do you know they're not lying about this, like they are doing with everything else per the OP?

The start of this video says that it is true they're using a lot of renewable energy lately, but they're also building a lot of new coal power stations. Though it seems their CO2 levels might have stopped increasing much lately.

The two videos in the OP seem to be talking about what regular people are doing to deceive the government inspectors, etc.

Right, and the left has no agenda and propaganda?....the ideologies are different but the methods are the same.

It is so much easier to be an independent centrist.

China is also way ahead of the USA (and the rest of the world) in nuclear power, which unlike renewables, is actually capable of fixing the climate change issue.

Though their reasons for building more nuclear plants is more local - they're trying to reduce both the particulate pollution from coal burning, and their dependence on imported coal.

It has always been easy to sit on the fence and do nothing but complain about those who are trying to achieve something.

But easy isn't efficient, effective, nor laudable.
Apparently South Park usually makes fun of both extremes.... there is a saying about having things in moderation. (though I don't really follow that sometimes)

It's not like you can hide windmills and solar panels. They can be counted from space.

It wouldn't be that hard to make flimsy, cheap solar panel or windmill decoys that look real to fool anyone spying on them from space. I don't know if they are doing that, but I would not be in the least bit shocked if it was discovered that they are doing it now or will do it in the future. Watch that first video, where the Chinese government completely faked the opening ceremonies with special effects.

In the second video it seems the environmentalism hishonesty shown was done by regular people rather than CCP members.

On the topic of green initiatives this video about fields of brand new electric cars being left to rot is interesting... it also talks about huge numbers of new bicycles being left to rot - for companies to get investment money or subsidies from the government - or so they can say that China is the leader in EV sales

Put your money where your mouth is: you made the claim, now back it up. Show the let's agenda and propaganda.

Last I knew the majority of the propaganda I see on the left is meant to drag people rightward though imbalanced framings.

Why would someone bother? It would be more expensive to make fakes than to just buy the real thing from the general market.

On the topic of waste and corruption (from post #17) - this is about many empty "ghost cities" - related to real estate investments

A related video at 9:50 also says "China has over 600 million people whose monthly income is barely US$140" then at 10:20 says China's GDP per capita (average per person) is about US$1000 per month. So the richer people would skew the average a lot
