Will there be a Night of the Long Knives?

Deaths on the "Night of the Long Knives" are estimated at about 90+. The estimate for deaths on Kristallnacht are also about 90+. Fortunately the U.S. has not yet experienced anywhere near that level of recent political violence. The Pottawatomie massacre, which infuriated the South and started a sequence of events that led to the American Civil War, was the killing of five men.

How many murders do we need to see before violent neo-Nazis should be considered a problem?

...
...
What murders are being comitted by neo-Nazis right now? I must have missed those news reports.
Saying your expecting more to happen implies that it is already happening. Where is it happening right now?
It is alright to admint that it is not happening now thank goodness. Time will tell though.
Just be careful saying things are happening when they are not.

* Trump's supporters -- in a mob of mostly affluent businessmen -- committed murders on 6 January 2021. 174 police officers were injured.
* David DePape, a deluded Trumpist, wanted to murder Nancy Pelosi on 28 October 2022, and nearly killed her husband Paul Pelosi instead.
* Many Trumpists anticipated a violent civil war if Harris had won the 2024 election.
* Some Republican Senators have implied, almost in so many words, that they voted to confirm obviously unfit Trump appointees because they were in fear for their lives. (E.g. see this report.)
* Republican election officials have experienced violence and threats.
* A florist in Memphis shuttered her business due to death threats in response to her Instagram post.
* Judges have received death threats.
* Et cetera
* Kyle Rittenhouse has become a darling of the right-wing.
A former spokesperson for Kyle Rittenhouse says he became disillusioned with his ex-client after learning that he had sent text messages pledging to “fucking murder” shoplifters outside a pharmacy before later shooting two people to death during racial justice protests in Wisconsin in 2020.
I wish Tigers! was able to acknowledge murders done by Murkin neoNazis.

Wishful thinking. They’re already rounding up the bad guys of their own choice and disappearing them to prisons in Panama.
Practice makes perfect. By the time they get to their vocal opponents, the whole operation will be normalized.
Who are these people who are disappearing into Panama? How many, when?
Does the US have such an agreeemnt with Panama?

I thought that Genesis was talking about (alledged) murders since Trump was inaugurated this year? Or winning the election last year.
Politics in the USA does seem to be very dirty too many times. Once is one too many.

In post 27 you said "Right now I'm expecting more murders/massacres committed by neo-Nazis that will go unpunished." I presumed that you were referring to such events since Trump was elected/inaugurated (e.g. Night of the Long Knives occured after Hitler consolidated power not before.) I was asking for more information on the murders/massacres that I thought must be happening right now.
Or if such events occured during Trump's 1st reign then you might have details of such.

I was referring to murders that happened during his last presidency, but for some odd reason you insist that the only possible interpretation is what is occurring right now which isn't what I meant at all. WHOOOA WHAT A REVELATION. HOLY SHIT THAT WAS SO HARD TO FIGURE OUT. Extremely basic reading comprehension fail.

Trump can bluster and threaten, but I think the courts will prevent him from making mass arbitrary arrests.

None of the courts even Trump appointees ruled in favor of election fraud claims.

Unless he can suspend habeas corpus and corrupt the Supreme Court I don;'t think he can do much.

No exact names or figures are publicly available. But Trump threatened to steal the canal from them if they didn’t take Trump’s prisoners, so they did.

Where you been?

Like GenNem and others, I am amazed by your selective obliviousness.
Is Au afflicted by the same RW media bubble that isolates ‘Murkin conservatives from their own doings?

Oh I thought you (and Genesis) were referring to US citizens who had been murdered or sent to camps. Thank you for the elaboration. Just a tinnsy more clarity next time would save a lot of bother.

Right now I'm expecting more murders/massacres committed by neo-Nazis that will go unpunished. Also at least as much censorship as the McCarthy era if not more, now that they can have AI doing the censoring.

You realize the majority of the hate crimes are committed by the right even now? It's just they aren't spectacular things that make CNN.

What you are missing is that he's simply ignoring the courts. The courts have nobody with guns to ensure their orders are carried out--that's entirely in the executive branch. And so far the executive branch has been going along with the coup.

Heard on the Rachel Maddow Show when the subject of the judge overturning the mass firings was that judges can appoint special prosecutors without going through the Justice Department.

I wouldn't put it past him. I think it's a matter of when and how exactly. Other posters have already mentioned things that are already happening. I would not be surprised if we see another Kent State or worse before midterms.

Property ownership might be enough,
Got a new and improved property valuation from the County "for tax purposes".
My annual property taxes have now officially exceeded three years' rent for the first place I ever rented. It's like they're sending me a message:
"You better be fucking rich if you plan on hanging on to that property much longer!"
Oh well. "I'm rich in other ways" is probably a good thought to hang on to.
:(

I would not be surprised if we see another Kent State or worse before midterms.
I will be delighted if the body count doesn't exceed four.

I think it will be more than 4, and I doubt there will be only one. I guess Neil Young will have to write a follow up song to Ohio. If not him, then someone.

He wanted to shoot BLM protesters in his last term, but this time there appear to be no rational voices that can or will tell him "no". His rhetoric about "illegal protests" raises a major red flag. I think that will ultimately be interpreted as protests he disapproves of. I think it's only a matter of time before he uses lethal force against US civilians. I don't think this ends well.
