If you've ever participated in or lurked in a rightist community on the Internet, you've seen tons of threads like this:
I've tried interjecting myself into such conversations. I've tried explaining that the plural of anecdote is not data. I've tried explaining what cherry-picking is, what a hasty generalization fallacy is, etc. Time and time again, I've been told that I'm a horrible person for thinking that anecdotes cannot be used to prove things about the entire group.
So fine. I accept the logic. I'm a terribad social justice warrior because of my problem with these anecdotal arguments.
Therefore, the above article proves that white people pimp their underaged children out for money.
Since white people are clearly depraved barbarians unfit to participate in civilized society, should we deport all the white people, or should we just stop accepting immigrants from nations known to contain white people? You know, just until we figure out what's going on.
PS[ent]mdash[/ent]If you are white, don't you feel at least a little bad about this? What do you have to say for yourself? What do you think white mothers are doing wrong in raising their children that creates this problem?
