Or maybe she meant that raises in pay are "free handouts."

Either way, it seems that I have learned something about what Republicans mean when they say "handouts." Inheritance is not a handout, but a paycheck is.

Every once in the while, the veneer gets scraped off of a neo-con and they expose their true contempt for people who work for a living.

Teachers come in for more than their share of abuse because they have the three strikes of being college educated, working for salary, and worst of all, they are public employees.

Yup. And anyone who gets uppity enough to complain about this kind of thing gets called an elitist.

But people who help the wealthy and large corporations at the expense of everyone else are gee-shucks regular folks.

If paychecks are free handouts, maybe we should keep working and stop expecting paychecks in return for our labor.

Would conservatives be happy then? Would that be the kind of world they prefer?

In their convoluted logic, if everyone refused to work somehow we would be violating their rights and they would concoct some excuse to draft or enslave us into labor.
