Yet another war, this time with Iran

IMO, it is logical and sane to think it is a bad idea for any country to have nukes. Especially one run by Trump.

There would be a lot more young people alive in Ukraine today if they had had nukes.
What is the problem? just send these young people back to Ukraine from Europe.
And you would not have had this ridiculous discussion (Ukraine never had any nukes) had The west not started this war with Russia in the first place.

I remember Gospel saying I was white knighting when calling out anti-semitism at a time of the greatest global rise of anti-semitism since WW2. I'd say it was more important than ever to call out that racist conspiracy at the time when I did. I don't like racism. I don't like racist conspiracies. I don't like racists patting eachother on the back and denying they're racists. The most dangerous racist is one convinced they're not. Right now it's not a question of sticking up for Jews in particular. It's a slippery slope. Once we're ok with minorities being targetted I think it poisons the culture and makes us go numb to it. I just refuse to let it happen without calling it out. If that makes people here feel uncomfortable... so be it.

Calling something ‘racist’ doesn’t automatically make it so. If you’re going to label something that way, you still have to show how it actually fits that definition, not just assert it. Your claims about me are based on assertion alone. If you’re going to make that claim publicly, I’d appreciate you supporting it with evidence.

I would hate to work from Trump. He loves to leave his most senior people out of the loop.

President Trump announced on Tuesday evening that he was pausing the day-old U.S. operation to escort commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz “for a short period of time,” citing what he said was “great progress” toward an agreement with Iran.

His announcement, in a social media post, came only hours after Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserted that the United States had concluded combat operations against Iran and was fully focused on the new mission. Only three commercial ships have managed to make it through the strait since the United States began the operation, dubbed Project Freedom, on Monday.

The president’s sudden U-turn on the escort mission was just his latest over the course of the war, which is now in its third month. When the U.S. Central Command was asked for comment on the change, a spokesman referred questions to the White House.

I would never work form Trump of course but he's fucking nuts.

Yeah, I didn't see this swerve coming quite so soon. The obvious issue was 2 or 4 boats wasn't a win to begin with, but maybe Trump and his Admin could finally pull a rabbit out of the hat. Appears there was no rabbit, not even a hat.

Iran is aware of geography and ports, and while Fujairah (located east of the Strait) is only capable of receiving so much oil via the Abu Dhabi pipeline, it is still something. And Iran targeted this location which was followed by the US stopping operation Intermittent Freedom.

So the US not only poorly executed their loudly proclaimed ambitions, the US gave up almost immediately after Iran and their apparently not as destroyed military capabilities targeted the eastern UAE port. Trump is the only guy that can keep losing face and insist he is winning and act like an ass when the winning is questioned.

I'd say Americans are uniquely obsessed about legalism.
Ahem - you’re the one who started any legal discussion the ignorant claim about constitutional constraints on Trump using nuclear weapons.

Again... soldiers aren't blind tools nor idiots.
Tell that to the citizens of Maine Lai or the passengers on the alleged drug running boats from Venezuela. As those 2 incidents show, soldiers sometimes obey illegal orders.

Yes, and I’m also asking you to stop spreading misinformation about me. Disagreeing with my opinions, or pointing out what you think are similarities between my views and ones you consider racist or antisemitic, is not evidence that I am either.

If you’re going to talk about it, be consistent. Stick to your actual claim, that in your view, my opinions resemble arguments you consider antisemitic. That’s very different from asserting that I am antisemitic.

You said, “I don’t like racists patting each other on the back and denying they’re racists,” in a comment that started with “I remember Gospel saying I was white knighting when calling out anti-semitism.” If you’re implying that applies to me, then back it up with evidence.

If you can’t provide any, shut the fuck up.

Good luck. Not only is antisemitism not racism (Jews are not necessarily a race), but you are dealing with a bigot against Palestinians who applauds their ethnic cleansing and calls anyone who thinks critics of Israeli policy are antisemites (except him).

I understand why some people refer to Jewish as a race, but that idea largely comes from historical antisemitism, where Jews were deliberately racialized. In reality, it’s more accurate to describe Jewish identity as an ethnic or ethnoreligious group rather than a race, and that distinction is exactly what antisemitism has historically blurred.

Clownshoes wasn't really making an argument though, he was just adorably fishing for a reaction, and got a bite he lacks the fortitude to reel in.

It is fascinating that the US had to go to war in February 2026, in order to stop Iran's nuclear weapons program that the US declared "obliterated" in June 2025; And are now struggling to contain the IRGC's naval capability in the strait, having declared the entire Iranian Navy destroyed at the end of March.

I am beginning to wonder whether there is something wrong with US weapons systems, as they only seem to destroy things very briefly, before those things suddenly reappear.

And they are lying about the damages inflicted on US assets by the Iranians. It's far worse than they will admit.

Just phantom blips on a radar screen.

However the Trump administration lies like it's a virtue. It would be nuts to take them at their word.

I'm sorry, but you did. This forum, as well as the west in general, is having a huge antisemitism problem at the moment. Just because lots of other people have suddenly turned evil and racist, doesn't make it ok. It's rather the opposite. The current moral standard was established in the Nüremberg court. Despite Trumps attempt to overturn the world order, I think that precedent is still valid.

Speaking up against a racist mob frothing at the mouth isn't white knighting.

Jewishness are both a race, ethnic group, religion and today also often a reference to Israel.

People who talk about Jews often slide all over these categories to whatever strengthens there argument. I'd say every side in the debate is guilty of muddying the waters on this.

The truth is of course that the correct term is context dependent, so should specified, probably always. But specifying it is annoying and takes longer to type, so I think we're stuck with this confusion keeping going. We'll just need to practice stopping ourselves and ask questions when it's not clear

So, 60 days and mighty US military is not close to capturing Tehran. In fact you currently hold 0% of Iran.
How is that even possible?

The difference between me and you is that when someone makes a mistake, I don't click around internet message boards childishly spreading false accusations that they’re antisemitic.

Edit: And by “mistake,” I mean you bizarrely lumping racism and antisemitism together in the same sentence while referring to me. But I'm sure you'd rather twist that into some wild confession to validate your bullshit. Too bad too sad.
