Covid-19 miscellany

Nationwide lockdowns in the UK during the pandemic were a “failure” of public health policy as they were not considered a last resort, an epidemiology expert has said.

Giving evidence at the Covid-19 public inquiry on Monday, Prof Mark Woolhouse of the University of Edinburgh – a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling (SPI-M-O) – said the group failed to adequately assess the negative consequences of a nationwide lockdown.

Never again.
Yes, for the trillionth time TSwizzle tells us he is into the QAnon level denial.

Just back from a Doctor's appointment. I am now officialy vaccinated with the latest Pfizer covid vaccination. Next in line, a few weeks hence, there is a new pneumonia vaccine suggested for those over 65. And I need to get my shingles vaccine.

I laugh at the anti-vaxxers and their puny immune systems.

Like US Open Champion Novak Djokovic who never took the "vaccine"?

I suspect you are one of those who enjoyed people losing their jobs because they refused the "vaccine".

Do you laugh at them too?

I kinda feel bad for people who so thoroughly bought the anti-vaxxer crap that they lost opportunities like that one.

But this is America, and people are free to be gullible for the most part. Doesn't mean that there aren't foreseeable consequences.

Yes. When a.fool decides to be a plague rat, they deserve to be labelled anathema.

I got my shingles vaccine when I turned 50. Got my flu and updated COVID last week.
Medicare A & B do not cover the shingles vaccs. It is $210 at Fred's!

If one has Medicare Part D, shinglex is covered. I have part D. But now I have to wait 2 weeks after my covid shot to get that done.

Victory against tyrants in Canada;

Business owners who opposed heavy handed pandemic restrictions secured another victory this week after the City of Calgary dropped all charges against Jesse Johnson, owner of Without Papers Pizza. After a prolonged legal battle, the charges against Johnson, related to non-compliance with Covid-19 public health orders, were dismissed by a Calgary court. In October 2021, Without Papers Pizza faced charges for violating several city bylaws. This action followed the suspension of its business license, a consequence of the businesses alleged non-compliance with public health mandates. The pizzeria was accused of allowing customers on the premises without vaccination verification and failing to exhibit mandatory health order signage, contravening regulations set forth by the City of Calgary. Undercover inspectors, who were allowed to buy and consume pizza on-site without showing vaccination proof, substantiated the charges against the restaurant. Johnson, who refused to enforce Alberta’s vaccine passport policy during the lockdown, received widespread support from the public.

Wait, weren't you opposed to people who wantonly break the law?

I certainly didn't think you'd be a huge fan of anarchy.

Well there are right laws and wrong laws. That is, laws that make other people's lives more difficult and laws that make the lives of the whiny little bitch faction more difficult.

The Karen&Greg Amendment to the Constitution states:
"Congress shall make no law infringing upon my right to be a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making me happy."

If some shithead decides to be an obstinate plague rat at work, possibly endangering others, and gets fired for that, tough! Plague rats can't be allowed to endanger everyone else just because they are stupid.

And if some asshole is going to pick and choose what safety rules they are going to comply with based on whether they think those rules make sense that's somebody you don't want working for you--they'll cut corners in other situations where they don't understand the reason the rule exists.

There are reports that the anti-vax campaign is now causing anti-vaxxers to stop vaccinating their kids againt measels and chicken pox et al with the predictable outcomes. A small epidemic of childhood diseases.

Plague rats, how quaint and oh so 2021. But anyway, the unvaccinated were never a risk to the vaccinated so I don't know why you are getting your N95 mask all twisted.
