I hate Facebook, but it is somewhat useful for posting on for a few niche interests. What sucks are all of the fake Likes out there trying to get you to get scammed.Fact checking was never really a thing there. The comments under an NPR article on the California fires is loaded with responses from fake accounts. NPR articles posted to facebook are always flooded with foreign and domestic right wing troll accounts.
James Webb is another. I don't get the business model of fake accounts posting fake info or images. Unless Facebook is the one creating the fake content.Oh David Attenborough Fans and its many iterations is something special.
I deleted* my account years ago. I don't miss it.Facebook fell into the toilet years ago. It's original purpose was great and a lot of fun, but it's been taken over... etc. etc. etc.
In short, it's not worth taking seriously anymore
You think Musk and Zuk used to be liberal???It is interesting how the once uber liberal tech titans are seeing first hand how their extreme left ideology has negatively affected business to the extent they can no longer ignore. First it was Musk and now Zuckerburg both were far left but now rapidly moving right. I suspect the google brothers larry and sergey would have revised their business operations by now. Other than their monopoly is so air tight they can continue treating their customers shitty and get by with it until the cows come home.
Just as a reminder, your bullet punctured and bloodied body would be buried in a ditch somewhere for what you've said... if you actually were dealing with extreme left ideology. It is interesting how the once uber liberal tech titans are seeing first hand how their extreme left ideology has negatively affected business to the extent they can no longer ignore.
Far left? Chavez would be far left. Not the worst fucking manager to work for.First it was Musk and now Zuckerburg both were far left but now rapidly moving right.
Yes. I only use it to keep up with my best friend and also to like pro-science and anti-fascist content on there. Ok maybe some cat videos too. And parrots.I deleted* my account years ago. It was helpful for keeping up with my family (who live on the other side of the planet from me), but I still have email, whatsapp, and the telephone - I have a Telstra plan that lets me make free calls from my mobile to the UK, (a plan which Telstra stopped selling when they realised how generous it is); They keep hinting that I should 'upgrade' to a new plan, but as long as I don't, they are stuck with the contract they signed with me
It's a stark contrast from when I first arrived in Australia; The only Internet users were a handful of geeks, and a landline call to the UK cost a dollar a minute. I remember using 0055 to call*, so as to get a line good enough to hear the other party through all the pops and crackles of static.
* I am under no illusion that they actually deleted my information from their servers, but it's increasingly out of date, and frankly I don't much care.
** Telstra used 0011 as the prefix for international dialing, but reserved the best lines for fax machines, which couldn't tolerate too much noise; They advertised using 0055 for international faxes, but these lines were no different from any other, except in that they were newer and so had lower levels of interference. The "hack" was not widely known; It could also get you through at Christmas time when the 0011 lines just led to "All lines to the country you are calling are currently busy..". Everyone called their family in the few hours that it was Christmas in both countries; But nobody was at work, sending faxes on Christmas Day...
