Merged Gaza just launched an unprovoked attack on Israel

To denote when two or more threads have been merged
Jimmy Carter gets a lot of crap from his Presidency. Like Biden, he inherited a very hard situation, tried to manage. Did some things that have had a massive long-term impact. Especially Egypt and Jordan. I think people take for granted that Egypt and Jordan have effectively been sidelined in all Middle East related shit shows since the early 80s. Of course, it comes at a price, money. And maybe something else as well... a presumption that the US gives at least a couple fucks about the Arabs when it comes to Middle East policy.

People often mistake historical precedent as future fact, but the truth is, with Jordan and Egypt potentially being strong armed by Trump, they may look at their bargain and consider whether it is worth it. Jordan already has a lot of Palestinians. Egypt doesn't want any more Palestinians. If Trump tries to force this, and makes the Trump-esque idea of threatening funding in retaliation of them not accepting Palestinians, do we return to a pre-1980 world, where Jordan and Egypt's position is their own... not America compatible.

Trump presented his plan which would be crime against humanity, at best. At worst, it is a fuse that reunites Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Iraq. and Syria in a manner that is not good for Israel or any interests in Gaza that don't involve the Palestinians. All Trump knows is chaos and bullying. He is bullying our best allies and is on the cusp of bullying our most important allies as far as Israeli security is concerned. (Jordan and Egypt). That shit might work when you have enough lawyers against smaller contractors... or "work" when other nations know how to blow smoke up Trump's ass to make him think he won.

But other nations that don't have to care about the US, that could have China step in with cash and support and a less judgmental view of foreign policy decisions, it would be reckless to poke to much there, especially when they get -50% out of the deal. They don't gain anything, they lose in this deal. They lose money, security, regional face. They looks like organ grinder monkeys dancing away for imperial America. It looks like a late 19th century political cartoon. Why in the world would they allow that?

I'd hold off on selling the Middle East War t-shirts for now, but as things stand, Trump is wading in waters, surrounded by sharks... and he thinks he is a shark, when he is a bucket of chum.
I think he’s just splashing around to make noise, in order to distract from a disastrous first two weeks that has seen his own junta begin to tear apart at the seams due to his misguided belief that he has already attained the Dear Leader status he covets.
Carefully couched warnings are coming from Congress; I don’t think anyone there will take his idea of sending Murkinz to occupy Gaza very seriously, but they’re worried about his the repercussions of the illegal acts he has already put before them.

Are you sure this doesn't more belong over in my Antichrist thread? You just know Trump is going to do this, and then as soon as it gets difficult, he's going to sell out Israel because it's more expedient.

It's one of the squares on the "bingo sheet" as it were.

There are plenty of people throughout history who have met the profile of Antichrist. They're all dead. Besides if the world ends it was already going to end sooner or later.

Unless you don’t take Trump seriously you need to realize that his idea to “simply” remove all the Palestinians from Gaza with no chance to return is going to undermine any good faith effort Israel has put in (if any) to appeal to the good nature of non-Hamas Gazans. Maybe it will make Israel’s job easier since it will likely turn all of them into combatants.

Excellent questions. Aren't we already doing everything we can to contain Iran (short of invading it)?
According to the aftermath of October 7th, what we are doing isn't working. When something isn't working, need to change tactics. Obama attempted the camel nose maneuver... and Trump fucked it up. Much like when he leaked sensitive intel to Russia about Israel.
What are you talking about? It's working great.
[Goose-gander] So you are happy with the massacre of over 1,000 Israelis. [/Goose-Gander]
Hamas has never before been this weak.
Oh... is this like how W stopped terrorism, as long as we ignore 9/11 like thing? The policies on Gaza saw a barbaric onslaught against Israeli civilians. Look! What we are doing is working, as long as we ignore what led us to this military action.

Nothing Israel has done since the massacre will prevent Iran from rebuilding Hamas. So, no, things aren't better. And with Gaza in ruins, Israel is in more danger because radicalizing angry, poor, suffering teens is going to be a piece of cake, especially when the POTUS is suggesting (or maybe we should just say planning to) ethnically cleanse Gaza!
I don't think IDF needs to change tactics.
If that was the case, why is everyone who is happy with the military tactics dead certain Hamas will attack again. How in the heck can the IDF being on the right track, when no one thinks it worked?

You're making Trump into some brutal, shallow-minded narcissist. Follow the weave!! There will be lots of careers at Mar-a-Gaza for Palestinians who stick it out -- caddies, mainly, but also cooks, wine stewards (in a few cases), and the guys who make sure the Jacuzzis are running.

Little Mikey Johnson said it was a great plan to take over Gaza. The Kool-Aide must be getting more delicious or it's spiked with an addictive drug.

It has long been standard practice for a regime with domestic problems to provoke a foreign war. The urgency and danger of war can justify police actions, quashing of dissent, austerity, and so on. Bush-43 said that he would pay for his wars with tax cuts and Americans were stupid enough to fall for that lie. Stupidism is an even stronger political force today.

The Fascist regime may not be deliberately hoping for war, but they're savvy enough to turn it to their benefit if it happens.

Of course not. It's a horrific tragedy. But Israel has been successful. Which you were talking about

I doubt that.

Wait, what? So now suddenly Israel is the barbaric side in this conflict. Wtf is wrong with you?

IDF stopped because of international pressure. They still hadn't found and retrieved all hostages, so totally morally justified to keep bombing, imho.

I think they should have kept going until all hostages had been retrieved. I think its counter productive to negotiate with terrorists or governments using terror tactics.

Incredible, you responded to my post without actually responding to a word I said.

Watch as more terrorist attacks happen on U.S. soil. The right will blame dwarves.

Welcome to the club.

This one is funny.
I’ve found it ironic that the above person would be immediately decapitated by Hamas.
They are supporting Palestine with the sign, not Hamas. It is complicated. That is the problem with signs sometimes, especially in this subject. There is support for Gazans based on any number of issues that exist for them... and then support for Hamas... and then a somewhat unwitting support of Hamas.

Then there is the other side of the coin, that a person would support people that think they are a grave sinner. Like that time my generally nice but racist Great Uncle was helped out with a flat tire by a Hispanic.

But I'm glad that the reich... I mean right-wingers so quickly have at their finger tips, these images.

Quick, distract everyone from the plans Trump exposed by making fun of trans people!

I think that video is representative of how absurdly warped the leftist narrative is about what is going on in Gaza

It represents the diversity of thought of the human race which includes trans people. Those people, like everyone, can be pro-Palestine, pro-Israel, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, it doesn't matter, and it isn't relevant to the thread, except as an anecdotal distraction. Something someone with tremendous power says, like Trump, is far more relevant to what is going on.
