i might agree if I was talking about Democrats, but I am talking about Trump. Conservatives LOVE the constitution, or at least they love 14 words of it. If we just do what we are not doing our current government fails and it is the poor people who will get hurt the worst. I agree with you the billionaires need to pay much much more no argument. I'm not sure how that can happen without all of them fleeing the country but they certainly need to pay much more in taxes. In the above Sanders video he tells us that the top 3 billionaires equal the bottom half of all Americans in wealth. How would you fix the government by increasing billionaire taxes? Even super high 99% income tax would not fix the problem because their income is not that much to support the enormous expenses of the present federal government. Their wealth is super vast but not their income.

So in the meantime, we really do need to learn to live within our means. And there just isn't a lot of time to kick the can down the road anymore.

For some reason I seem to have no problem with Trump going after his own government with DOGE. He ran on this and got elected on this.

He mentioned it at some point. In the United States of America, when you say you are going create a new department when you become President, it means you will have someone in Congress sponsor a bill to that effect. Then, Congress will debate its nuances and intricacies and there will be many amendments and tweaks to existing law and policy. The result will be a well-defined department with a lot of structure and understanding of how it interacts with the government. IF it passes, there will be a related budget each year. The department head, i.e. Secretary, will be investigated and possibly confirmed by the Senate. Don't you even remember when Obama was President and he had Democrats sponsor the Affordable Care Act? He didn't pass it by decree just because a majority voted for him. A majority of the people don't have that power either. The Constitution requires supermajorities at several levels to alter itself through amendments. You have to have 2/3 of each house of Congress, House and Senate, and 3/4 of the state assemblies to all agree to the change. A slim 51.5% of the popular vote is nowhere near a Constitutional Amendment to declare a King.
