So, besides voting (it's too late), What can we do?

The Dems could have done a lot more to help workers while they were in power, and they could have promised a lot more to help workers once re-elected, but they did neither, because they're spineless, out-of-touch centrists.
To be fair about Biden. I was surprised that Biden left most of Trumps tariffs in place and particularly impressed that he actually visited the Belvidere Chrysler plant to support blue collar workers. He also did much more for union workers during his term than I expected.

I did, and Rump still got nominated. )-:
So what CAN we do?
We should be anticipating our prospect of receiving our $5000 dodge check which will be real revenue (not just printed currency) we can spend without inflating the rest of our currency. https://www.northjersey.com/story/n...25-stimulus-refund-check-meaning/79290330007/

And if enough of us have confidence this money is not just printed we might actually spend it (versus investing in bitcoin) on US manufactured products that may actually help our own GNP and standard of living to rise.

I'll need it to pay my taxes, which Trump increased.

131.5 million households getting a $5,000 check would come to over $650,000,000,000. I'd rather have American's working and use the savings to pay down the debt. And while those Americans are still working, send it some real auditors....take their time, look for actual places to cut and then take it back to Congress and let them vote on it. You might actually get bipartisan support if you didn't try to solve the nations debt problem before March

That $5,000 better not go to people who didn't pay taxes. Otherwise it's wealth distrubution and vote buying. You know, bad stuff according to the right.

“The numbers are incredible, Elon. So many millions, billions — hundreds of billions,” Trump said in his speech. “And we’re thinking about giving 20% back to the American citizens, and 20% down to pay back our debt.”

So, um.. where does the other 60% go?

Since it is supposedly paying back tax money that was fraudulently used, it should be distributed based on the amount of taxes each family paid, right? If anybody didn't pay taxes, they shouldn't get any money back as they didn't support the fraud. At this point Elon should have access to all of our tax returns, so he can pay it out accordingly.

No kidding. But I don't expect consistency in the dogma when they have an opportunity to buy votes from people like my meth head relatives who will blow through it in a day or so.

What better way to gain support then handing out taxpayer money to random people who don't pay taxes anyway while shutting down transportation and education funding?

That $5k will only get you through a few days of eggs, anyway!
That $5k will pay less than 6 months of COBRA for a laid off government worker with a family.

What can we do? I’m going to “… piss and moan like an impotent jerk and then bend over and take it up the tailpipe”.

Trump has deep pockets.

My position: To beat Maga you need Robin Hood economic populism.
This. And throw around a little profanity here and there. Sound like real people.

Example: Alabama, IIRC, wanted a New York doctor who provided mefipristone (sp?) to a patient in Alabama to be extradited to Alabama for prosecution. IMO, the governor of New York should have said "Parents. Cover your kids ears. Alabama. Fuck off."

Yes, it's crude and profane. But it shows the governor has some balls that could be appreciated by the kind of people the Dems have lost.

Impossible. More money chasing the same or fewer amount of goods will cause inflation. Apparently the laws of supply and demand is another subject you are unfamiliar with.

Not to mention the total savings would not actually finance such a disbursement. And it definitely would not go to paying off the debt, which as I recall was the whole point.

The DOGE check revenue comes from wages not being paid to the cut employees. NOT printed currency.

Dollars are fungible. They don't know or care where they came from.

And all federal spending is "printed currency", including the wages paid to federal employees. Diverting that money to other uses changes nothing about the fact that it is created from nothing, as it is spent.

Tax dollars are not spent by the government; They are destroyed by the act of federal taxation. Money spent by the federal government is all "printed" as required. Federal spending of any kind IS the creation of money*.

*Though it's a very minor part of the total money created. Most money is created via fractional reserve lending, from banks to their customers, and is decoupled from anything the federal government does, other than encouraging such private borrowing by lowering interest rates, or discouraging it by raising them. And as interest rates are set by an effectively independent federal body, not beholden to government policy, but instead charged with keeping the dollar stable, most money "printing" has zippo to do with who is in power or what their policies are.

Wanna put your money where your mouth is?

Send me $1000 and when I get my "$5000 doge check" I'll send it to you, along with the original $1000...

I actually fully expect a fairly sizable check in the mail, as of the time of its issuing.

And an immediate spike in prices across the board.

And for that to be the last money the US government EVER puts into my pocket.

Yes, it's crude and profane.
Really? If you think that's crude and/or profane, you really need to visit Australia. ;)
