• Welcome to the Internet Infidels Discussion Board.

Well... it's Trump... again. #47, here we go.

Suspending Habeas Corpus, that is quite unimagineable. Glad we have our in house fascists to not protest suvh an act.
IIRC Licoln suspend Habeus Corpus at least twice. And he a Republican (I think)!
There was an ever so slightly difference between the two with regards to context. And using an example that occurred over two and a half centuries ago is some pretty fucking weak justification.
Just slightly… a bloody war that killed 700,000 Americans, vs Miguel the migrant who killed and raped a girl in California in 2006, and a rumor that Haitians were eating cats and dogs… yeah, the same thing for sure.
Sheesh.

ETA: the TOTAL US population in 1865 was only about 31 million, so proportionally that would be like 7 million dead ‘Murkinz in Trump’s invented war.

There's a lot of easy political capital to be made by keeping people scared of immigrants and crime and angry about them. Also, it keeps making those burglar alarm companies profitable.

We have more lights on at night in my neighborhood at light than a Broadway stage, even though it's a very safe neighborhood. You can't even see the stars because of all the lights. Americans are easily frightened.

First they came for the criminals, and I did not speak out, because
Why do you want gangbangers and criminals to be allowed to remain in the USA?
Trump is going about it in his trademark "elephant in a china shop" way of course, but do you really think illegals or legal aliens who commit serious crimes should get to stay in the US?
It seems to me you are objecting to the principle of deporting criminals here, not just the way Trump is going about doing that.
Then they came for the immigrants, and I did not speak out, because
Again, not agreeing with the way Trump does it, but if a country does not control its borders and who gets to come it, you don't really have a country. Even Europe is starting to understand that. Perhaps too late though.
Then they came for the Muslims, and I did not speak out, because
But to the left, Muslims get a pass. And even worse, anybody who disagrees gets labeled "racist" and even "Neo-Nazi".

Islamism is a clear and present danger to the West. Your cartoon about not understanding history is apt. People like you who deny the threat from political Islam definitely do not understand history.
Are you purposely being disingenuous or do you honestly not understand that the issue is with the elimination of due process in the pursuit of the goals you mention in this post?

If you’re willing to just take Trump’s word for it then you are in favor of deporting those we only think are illegals and criminals. should we not know it?

The suspension of habeus corpus, and thus the suspension of the Constitution itself, isn’t merely a different style that Trump takes from other politicians that we just happen to disagree with. It is a stab at the foundational principles of the country.

Islamism is a clear and present danger to the West.
I agree. But at this moment in history Rump is a much greater danger to 'the west'. US and our alies.

Also: Yes I fear is-lame, but christians are a more imediate threat to me.
And using an example that occurred over two and a half centuries ago is some pretty fucking weak justification.
Check your math. The Civil War was in the 1860's.

Not so. He is taking over the justice system and the country. Day by day.
And breaking stuff in the process.
Who says they are criminals? Only Rump. They are not getting trials, only accquations.
what-du-just-say-what-now.gif

"Accquations"?

I already acknowledged that Trump is going about it the wrong way.
But bilby seems to think that going after criminals and illegals is wrong in itself.

Yes. At least long enough to stand trial.
But they should also not be gazillion stages of appeals to deportation. Nor should "sanctuary cities" be a thing.
And asylum should go back to what it was intended to be - offering protection for people genuinely persecuted in their countries. Not a way for millions of people to come here and flaunt our immigration laws.
That is what I would want for myself. If Rump is not stopped, he will make me a criminal. I will become a Resistance/Freedom Fighter (no joke).
YOU ARE NOT PAYING FUCKING ATTENTION.
It is absolutly about his methods. He is delibertly destroying our justice system.
That's not what bilby's plagiarized poem implies.
The deportations are not the only illegal shit he is doing. He has ignored court orders. Arrested judges and lawyers.
One judge has been arrested because she helped an illegal evade ICE. I do not think judges should be aiding and abetting illegal immigration.
If a country does not control its leaders, you don't really have a country, you don't have a democracy, you don't have freedom. You have a fifedom.
Both Trump and de-facto open borders that many Dems support are bad. But the latter is part of the reason we got the former.
People who were loud about things like decriminalizing illegal border crossings, expanding grounds for asylum, and abolishing ICE gave us Trump.
(spellcheck is broken)
You can check you own spelling, like in the old days.

Neither. I was commenting on bilby's poem. The original was about communists, social-democrats and Jews. Not about criminals and foreigners who had no right to be in Germany in the first place.
Note also that bilby has some radical views when it comes to law enforcement anyway.
If you’re willing to just take Trump’s word for it
No. But neither do I agree with bilby that it's wrong for the government to come after criminals and illegals, or that political Islam is a benign force in the West.

Again, that has nothing to do with what I was objecting about re bilby's derivative verse smithing.

The original was about what the Nazis did. And according to the Nazis, communists and social democrats were criminals, and Jews were foreigners who had no right to even be alive, and certainly not in Germany, in the first place.

Bilby is in Austrailia. Remember who founded Austrailia? :p
I do not think judges should be aiding and abetting illegal immigration.
The judge knew what she was doing. (Civil Disobediance) She knew the detailes better than you or I. The law is her full time job.
You can check you own spelling, like in the old days.
That is not in my skill set. Never was.

You are falsly assuming you know anything about the deportees.
That's not what bilby's plagiarized poem implies.
Then you are missing the point. Or don't know the history of it.

Wrong. It is about the faschists doing the removels. And indiscrimant deportations.
But neither do I agree with bilby that it's wrong for the government to come after criminals and illegals
It is absolutly wrong for Rump's branch of the government to do so. It needs the JUSTICE branch and Due Process.
that has nothing to do with what I was objecting about re bilby's derivative verse smithing.
Then you don't understand the poem. Or history.

The Trump administration is preparing to accept a superluxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from the royal family of Qatar as a gift to be used by President Donald Trump as the new Air Force One for presidential travel until shortly before Trump leaves office, according to four sources familiar with the planning.

Two of the sources also confirm that ownership of the plane will be transferred to the Trump presidential library foundation once the president ends his second term.
"Trump must seek Congress’ consent to take this $300 million gift from Qatar. The Constitution is perfectly clear: no present “of any kind whatever” from a foreign state without Congressional permission. A gift you use for four years and then deposit in your library is still a gift (and a grift)," Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, wrote in a post on X.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer similarly blasted Trump, calling the plane an example of "foreign influence."

"Nothing says 'America First' like Air Force One, brought to you by Qatar. It’s not just bribery, it’s premium foreign influence with extra legroom," Schumer, D-N.Y. wrote in a post on X.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., went even further, calling the move "corrupt" and "unconstitutional."

"I don’t know who needs to hear this, but NO, Donald Trump cannot accept a $400 million flying palace from the royal family of Qatar. Not only is this farcically corrupt, it is blatantly unconstitutional," Sanders wrote.

Trump II is going to look like the depths of Jim Crow to future Americans -- that is, if in the future the country has regained its sanity. Not a sure bet at all. The theme of this era so far = The Destructive Power of Lies.
The history suggests that the US has never been totally sane. Now and then it has had brief bouts of sanity. The Warren Court, for example, was a brief period of sanity.

It's his reason for wanting to be president. To grift and Take bribes.
