I mean, they're already defending the Trump administration's use of private social media apps, private phones, and other private and unencrypted methods of electronic communication despite losing their ever-loving minds over Hillary's Buttery Mails.
I'd hazard a guess that if one of Trump's sons (Don Jr. or "and I'm Eric," at least) were caught putting dick picks on a laptop, making tens of thousands of dollars a month working for a foreign energy company, and doing coke off a hooker's ass, they'd find a way to claim that it was absolutely, completely not in any way like what happened with "Hunter Biden's laptop."
They freaked out over alleged Biden deals with China, but sloughed off the fact that Ivanka Trump make multi-million dollar deals with China while sitting at her desk in the White House.
If you want to go old school, the "party of family values" that spent most of the 90s making the fact that Bill Clinton cheated on his wife a disqualification for the Presidency on "moral grounds," but have no problem whatsoever with the fact that Don cheated on his first wife with his second, his second wife with his third, and his third wife with at least one porn star (that we know of).
There is NOTHING they will not excuse. He could fly his new jet to Pyongyang, give the nuclear football to Kim, say "nuke Arkansas, I don't care" and they'd be like "spank me harder, daddy!"

The odd thing is that this plane will easily require over a billion in retrofits (over the period of years) to become sufficient to be a flying communications hub during a war. Trump likes it because the inside looks nice. Looks aren't what make Air Force One, Air Force One.
Rush Limbaugh was having fits on the air over gifts from Marc Rich for the pardon, and Trump wants to receive a over half billion dollar plane for free. And the GOP won't do a thing about it, just like every other scam Trump has run in the last few six plus months.

It can't be used as AF1 without tearing it completely down to green aircraft and building it back up. In the time it takes to do that, the VC-25B will be done so this "gift" is certainly just a bribe and we all know Trump will figure out a way to keep after he leaves office.
On second thought, use it as Air Force 1 without any of the security modifications. And make sure keep your IFF and ADS-B transponders turned on at all times.
