Trump's Appointments

Teach a man to fish.
The VA has mandatory nutrition, exercise, and behavior modification classes, twelve of them to be exact before considering approving a prescription of any weight loss drug. And this during the Biden administration.
It is my understanding that to this day the medical community, in all their training, still receives little education on nutrition. Now what might that lead us to believe about the general population regarding its knowledge about nutrition when their own doctor knows next to fuck all about it?

These people for all their wacky crap about vaccines do seem to be pushing in the right direction with regards to the obesity epidemic. Will it bear any fruit? We'll see. We'll see if they go after the shit food industry.

Gotta start somewhere though, right? And a good place to start would be with the crap people are shoveling into their gob.

Sorry, no.

You don't control diabetes with diet and nutrition.

I'm trying to phrase this every which way I can to prove you right but I, the NIH, the ADA seem to think otherwise. UCLA is even under the naive assumption that diabetes can be reversed. What's up with that.

Diabetes can be “reversed”?
Type II diabetes can be mitigated. Type I diabetes needs insulin from infancy. Neither form can be “reversed” afaik, though rigorous attention to diet and exercise plus conscientious monitoring, can eliminate many of the effects of Type II diabetes, and in rare cases make it functionally disappear altogether. All people with Type I diabetes require insulin for life.

And Type I patients? Just let ‘em die?
So cooking at home means you can't become overweight?

Robert F Kennedy Jr’s flagship health commission report contains citations to studies that do not exist, according to an investigation by the US publication Notus.

The report exposes glaring scientific failures from a health secretary who earlier this week threatened to ban government scientists from publishing in leading medical journals.

The 73-page “Make America healthy again” report – which was commissioned by the Trump administration to examine the causes of chronic illness, and which Kennedy promoted it as “gold-standard” science backed by more than 500 citations – includes references to seven studies that appear to be entirely invented, and others that the researchers say have been mischaracterized.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/22/rfk-jr-maha-health-report-explained
Two supposed studies on ADHD medication advertising simply do not exist in the journals where they are claimed to be published. Virginia Commonwealth University confirmed to Notus that researcher Robert L Findling, listed as an author of one paper, never wrote such an article, while another citation leads only to the Kennedy report itself when searched online.

Harold J Farber, a pediatric specialist supposedly behind research on asthma overprescribing, told Notus he never wrote the cited paper and had never worked with the other listed authors.

The US Department of Health and Human Services has not immediately responded to a Guardian request for comment.

The citation failures come as Kennedy, a noted skeptic of vaccines, criticized medical publishing this week, branding top journals the Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine and Jama as “corrupt” and alleging they were controlled by pharmaceutical companies. He outlined plans for creating government-run journals instead.

Beyond the phantom studies in Kennedy’s report, Notus found it systematically misrepresented existing research.

It’s the way the UCLA story phrased it: reversed but not eliminated.
Given the context of the story and the fact that 90-95% of all diabetes is type II, it is a fair assumption that Makary is only referring to type II.

And I'm glad he has come to the conclusion that no doctor has ever suggested their diabetes prone patient should lose weight through diet and exercise.

I'm impressed with how much RFK Jr and the MAGA world want people to have babies and now they want to control what people eat. Conservatives weren't always like this.

The fact is, You don't control diabetes with diet and nutrition alone.

Of course, changes to diet can help.

Suggesting that you can control diabetes ONLY through dietary changes, is like suggesting that you can fix a gunshot wound by just elevating the injured limb. Sure, the EMTs will tell you to do that. But they won't tell you that that's the ONLY thing you need to do.

And after further review, looks like AI was used to produce at least part of the report.
article said:
Of the 522 footnotes to scientific research in an initial version of the report sent to The Washington Post, at least 37 appear multiple times, according to a review of the report by The Post. Other citations include the wrong author, and several studies cited by the extensive health report do not exist at all, a fact first reported by the online news outlet NOTUS on Thursday morning.

Some references include “oaicite” attached to URLs — a definitive sign that the research was collected using artificial intelligence. The presence of “oaicite” is a marker indicating use of OpenAI, a U.S. artificial intelligence company.
So not only can they not proofread, they can't even write.

Given the context of the story and the fact that 90-95% of all diabetes is type II, it is a fair assumption that Makary is only referring to type II.
It’s safe to assume that the vast majority of Type II cases can be effectively treated with a sufficiently rigorous regimen of diet and exercise. But even the most dedicated fans of strict diet and exercise programs, often struggle to stay on point with it. And most Type II patients are not of that sort, or they would probably never know that their insulin production was sub-normal in the first place. Withhold insulin, and many will die in short order, and most will live shortened lives. .

I’m watching “Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster”
It is hard to see how that operation was conducted, and NOT liken it to the Trump goobermint.
They were all in on haphazard, slipshod practices as long as it advanced The Cause.
I woulda hoped that the outcome of the Trump McSperiment would be better, but it looks destined for the same fate as that sub, and for the same reasons.

Ya think?

From today

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s pick to lead a federal watchdog agency is a former right-wing podcast host who has praised criminally charged influencer Andrew Tate as a “extraordinary human being” and promoted the false claim that the 2020 election was rigged.

If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Paul Ingrassia would lead the Office of Special Counsel, an agency dedicated to protecting whistleblowers that is also responsible for enforcing the Hatch Act, which restricts the partisan political activities of government workers.

Maybe a sign of Trump distancing himself from Musk?

Seems every answer from the White House is always transparently evasive. It's like it's against MAGA doctrine to ever give an honest answer.

Trump is such a a little shit.
