Climate Change(d)?

I think we’ll survive CO2 but will likely lose high-tech industrial civilization.
But if we lose civilization we do not have the capability to produce what people need to survive in current densities. Pretty much everyone dies.

Three Mile Island put the kibosh on nuclear power. That plus antibody wanted to have a nuclear waste storage site in their state.

There are intrinsically safe reactor designs that can never have an uncontrolled runaway state.

An intrinsically safe system is one where any failure can not lead to fire, explosion, or hazard to life.
You can build a design that can't go prompt critical.

That's not the same as a design that can safely dissipate that 3% of power that's still produced when turned off.

Pretty much everyone dies, whether we have civilisation or not :)

lol.

An example of a science-based claim was that “climate change models can make accurate predictions”, Jiang said.

The models can’t predict next week’s weather never mind what is supposed to happen in ten years time.
I have here a d20. Utterly unpredictable, could be anything from 1 to 20. Standard deviation is 5.76, which is 35% of the total range.

Let's say I add up 100,000 rolls. The total is going to be quite close to 1,050,000. Standard deviation is 1,823, which is less than .1% of the total range and says that can be effectively certain the answer is within 1%.

That's why we can do climate but not weather. The climate forecaster cares about how much energy there is, where it is means little. The weather forecaster cares about where that energy is, how much is on the other side of the planet is irrelevant.

You can point to one spot and say it's cooling, but that doesn't represent what is happening to the planet.

I have never done that.

It's implied in your remarks, the weather in your city, etc.

I have explained numerous times why I do that.

Maybe you were wrong the first time....
Maybe you’re just too dumb to understand the explanation but that’s a you problem.

Carry on.

Your error has been pointed out by a number of posters. You in fact post remarks on the weather in your city as a way of giving the impression that anthropomorphic climate change is false. Or maybe you just don't see the implications of your remarks?

You’re dumber than I first thought.

That signals failure. Hurling insults is not an argument, it's the last resort of those who have failed to defend their faith.

I just saw some interesting stories in my newsfeed. Our resident climatologist Mr. Swizzle has been working overtime to correct errors, so I've brought in Swish_Whiz to help out with the workload.

The newsfeed shows:
  • Southern Ocean current reverses for first time, signalling risk of climate system collapse
There has been a lot of speculation that the whole AMOC (otherwise known as the Gulf Stream), could come to a halt. The AMOC brings warm water to Europe from the equator, and when it stops flowing that will lead to a mini-ice age in Europe with winter temperatures dropping by 10-30C. While scientists are 98% certain that the AMOC will stop flowing by 2100, recent studies suggest that the collapse could come as soon as this year, or at least in the next few decades.
The ICM report warns that the reversal of the DWBC [Deep Western Boundary Current] could also unleash vast amounts of carbon dioxide currently trapped in deep-ocean reservoirs. The reversal will undermine the ocean’s role as a carbon sink, which currently absorbs about 25% of all anthropogenic CO₂ emissions.

Current reversed? What a joke. Hain't you ever been to the beach? Waves alternate in and out several times per minute, but now it's happened for "the first time"? Shheeesh. :HEADBUTT: Rapture me up, Scotty.

  • The Mediterranean is hotter than ever and It's only July. (See graph below.) Normally that ocean is hottest in August.

And that's a problem Why? Water's cold here in Sanity Monika. I'm firing up my kerosene-guzzling airplane and heading for the Riviera!

It's hot in SOUTH Dakota. Whippeee! Next you'll tell us 'Dog bites man in Fresno.' North is cold; South is hot. Didn't you guys even go to sixth grade?

  • Search for over 20 girls in Texas ...
    Swish Whiz said:
I'll join in that search! But why restrict it? "Over 18" is legal in most states.

Swish Whiz is the poster child for willful ignorance. You can play too; all you have to do is recognize that weather and climate are cyclical, and no amount of data can possibly indicate that anything is ever out of kilter. Like magic, or COVID, global warming will just suddenly go away. The stupid libs should really stop measuring shit they can't do anything about anyway. Like COVID, if you don't test for it, it's not really there.

article said:
“The stunning reversal of ocean circulation in the Southern Hemisphere confirms the global climate system has entered a catastrophic phase,” said climate activist Ben See in a post on social media.

lol, Ben the activist on social media knows his stuff. That’s the third paragraph and as far as I went.

It is a catastrophic 73 degrees today. I’m looking forward to the days I can go surfing sans wetsuit. lol.

Wuss.
I surfed two whole winters from Rincon up to SLO without a wetsuit, and that was in the 60s when the ocean was cold.
Suck it up and get wet!

(Yes, Swiz - ocean temperatures around the Channel Islands off Santa Barbara have increased about 1.6 degrees F since 1960. Multiple sources confirm a long-term warming trend in sea surface temperatures (SST) along the California coast.)

Given TSwizzles's propensity for bullshit I doubt he knows which side is up on a surf board.

He probably sits his ass on a beach eating hot dogs watchman the girls.

I haven’t surfed for a few years, my knees are done for. And I don’t go to the beach very often, particularly Santa Monica because of the homeless. Santa Monica pier is still standing strong though. (y)

What make;s you think anybody gives a shit?

If that is true you were bullshitting about witting ti go surfing sans wet suit. More of your bullshit implying climate change is not an issue.

You have zero credibility here. You still have not posted any credible fact based arguments to support your claims about climate change.
