In what NFT wet dream is Trump up for combat of any kind? In Trumpworld, somebody else gets indicted, somebody else goes to jail, and somebody else does the fighting/dying (and remember, he likes heroes who didn't get captured.) I remember when letting a tax cut expire was considered a tax hike by the GOP. Now Trump is raising taxes significantly, and the GOP is fine with it... as long as he continues dismantling the Executive regulatory system.
 
Another trade deal deadline is about to pass. And Leavitt has said countries without a trade deal will be hearing from the US by the midnight deadline. That would generally be every country as while "deal" have been arranged with a handful of nations, none of those deals were signed agreements, or worth the 1s and 0s I used to bring them up. The closest the Trump Admin has come to trade deals are a few frameworks.

So, we wait to see if TACO Don comes out again or if Trump will apply real tariffs at rates that combat imaginary tariffs from other nations.
 
Trump has explicitly tied trade talks with Canada with their support for a Palestinian state. He tied the Brazilian tariff to their prosecution of former president and Trump imitator Bolsonaro. None of this is remotely Constitutional, and neither is Trump's comprehensive plan for inflicting tariffs on a global scale. This is an egomaniac who fancies that he can control the world. Why would citizens in any of the countries that have encountered his ugly belligerence choose to buy the consumer goods we export? If I were Canadian, "Made in USA" would read the same as Radioactive/Do Not Touch.

It could be illegal in that neither situation is related to Trump's supposed economic emergency that is in the court right now. And his tariffs could easily be illegal.
 
Unconstitutional because Congress has the power to institute tariffs. The Trump justification -- that our trade deficits constitute an emergency, and therefore the chief exec can step in -- is ridiculous. This country hasn't had a trade surplus since about 1976.
 
Weird, if Trump is saying 36%. Ford just projected a 36% drop in annual earnings because of potential costs it will incur with the tariffs, if they all go through.

The fascist shithead once again picks a tariff fight with Canada over... the next to nonexistent fentanyl problem at the Canadian border.

The [Trump Executive] order cites "Canada's lack of co-operation in stemming the flood of fentanyl and other illicit drugs across our northern border" and the fact that Canada has retaliated against the United States for the president's actions.

"Canada accounts for only one per cent of U.S. fentanyl imports and has been working intensively to further reduce these volumes," he said.

So in reality Canada is not a serious fentanyl problem and trump continues to lie. And I don't know what Trump considered Canada's retaliation. Trump is a bully and I can only guess that as a bully, he expects to be able to punch someone in the fact and not be punched back.
