Yeah. The original jeans commercial was tone-deaf. Execs are often tone-deaf. Sometimes people just get so wrapped up in a marketing campaign that something like that happens.

It's easy to tell the difference between that and people doing Nazi solutes on stage, repeatedly, and again after it's observed what they did.

It's easy to tell the difference between tone-deaf execs, or even a message snuck through by some Nazi (which does happen), and a message following the timbre and social interests that drove things like the Nazi book-burnings, directly from the mouth, using coded language. Coded language would be anything such as the claim that being trans is a "meme" to tuck away accusations of grooming and an otherwise obvious agenda of suppression of public life for trans people.

Fascism is a cycle that comes for older democracies that have forgotten the horrors of war.

It is here again.

But the stupid jeans ad isn't it.

Back in the Great War, those Englishmen unfortunate enough to own a German Shepherd (a very popular breed in England at the time) found themselves in a bit of a bind. People are strange, and nationalists are very strange people, particularly when they feel threatened. Up until 1914, by far the most common kind of foreign restaurant in England was the German restaurant. Even today, German food remains hard to find in any English town or city.

The whole thing is reminicent of 'Freedom Fries' - a particularly weird example, because the french fry is a Belgian invention, and the name comes not from the nationality, but from the style of slicing vegetables into long thin strips. The Belgians frenched and fried potatoes, to make the famous foodstuff.

Owning a German Shepherd is not an indication of Naziism. Being a Nazi is.

Just a quick question... are you suggesting that Poe isn't broken and that it obvious that ad is fake? Yes, a play through implies rather obviously it is a hoax, but in general, you need to check everything. It is becoming exhausting.

Double sourcing and checking is pretty much prerequisite for just about everything these days. You can't trust anything. Like the Jeans ad... is that real? Why do I need to look it up? Yes, she has "good genes", but only in the sense she is pretty and the whole look of "blue eyes" thing was done by some awful people. Additionally the idea that there are good genes (as opposed to bad genes) isn't something we should be using to sell jeans. Yes, it'd be worse if we were actually selling genes, but this takes some atrocious policies and crimes in the 20th century and trying to play it off as a whimsical pun. And this goes well beyond the Holocaust as we were sterilizing people to stop them from breeding in the US and presumably Europe.

So, no, not pro-eugenics, but this is a "too fucking soon" issue. Not losing sleep over it, but they can sell jeans without mentioning genetics.

And the response was likely 'If the question must be asked, then we'll get our money's worth.' It was immediately highly questionable just reading Zip's statement and it took only seconds after that to determine the yellow jeans ad was in fact, a parody, and not a real AE ad. The video says "Tiffany Fong has great genes" at the the end and the youtube channel is called "Tiffany Fong" (with 49k subscribers). And I never made any claim or suggestion that "Poe isn't broken". That's something from your overactive imagination.
