Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered hundreds of the U.S. military’s generals and admirals to gather on short notice — and without a stated reason — at a Marine Corps base in Virginia next week, sowing confusion and alarm after the Trump administration’s firing of numerous senior leaders this year.

The highly unusual directive was sent to virtually all of the military’s top commanders worldwide, according to more than a dozen people familiar with the matter. The directive was issued earlier this week, as a government shutdown looms, and months after Hegseth’s team at the Pentagon announced plans to undertake a sweeping consolidation of top military commands.

In a statement Thursday, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell affirmed that Hegseth “will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week,” but he offered no additional details. Parnell, a senior adviser to the defense secretary, voiced no concerns about The Washington Post reporting on the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday in Quantico, Virginia.
Is this something that you'd want to actually do? Ignoring the potential implications of the meeting, getting all of your brass in one spot seems dangerous.

Unignoring the implications, this doesn't have a positive vibe to it.

Planning to fire everyone who would refuse to follow an illegal order?

Hopefully it's just more of the usual "rah rah we are warriors" performative bullshit. Of course my hope is weak at this point.

It’s gonna be “rah rah you all have a chance to be part of history, we are going to topple the unfair structure of these United Statez and return us white men to our rightful place of ascendence! If you can’t fight on the Trump team it’s time to declare your treason and get locked up ok? Now let’s go kick some black and brown butt!”

C’mon, it’s not like Pete is dumb enough to tell anyone where and when this meeting will take place, right? We probably won’t even know until after it takes place that it was planned to begin with.

lulz ... it will probably just be him in a room with a hooker and a bottle, bullshitting everyone via his very secure tiktok page.
It will have been an outstanding success, and we will never know "at what?". Firings to follow.

Or it's a good place for a well placed briefcase bomb. Take out the top brass and replace them with sycophants psychopaths.

I'm betting Venezuela.
Low hanging grapes - lots of oil, poorly defended, access through the Gulf of America where random unknown boats are blown up, minimizing piracy risk, no canal travel required.

Sadly I think it's more likely that Trump will illegally declare Martial Law and invade the US to suppress all people to the left of Mitt Romney. I believe that he is that evil and crazy. Those brass who won't go along will be rounded up too.

That's my prediction.

Maybe in 18-20 months when the new department of war justice is firmly established. Meanwhile, Jeffrey is whispering in his ear “invade Venezuela!”

I dunno.

I seem to recall a Harry Harrison book in which the aliens open their war against humanity by destroying a starbase at which all of the Space Admirals in the entire Earth Fleet had gathered for a planning meeting.

This plan backfires spectacularly, as the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Earth Fleet immediately triples.

The Tuesday speech is expected to be the first in a series of three short lectures Hegseth will deliver, two people familiar told The Post. The second will be on the defense industrial base, and the third will be on deterrence — planned to be delivered at the Reagan National Defense Forum in California in December.
Now let me explain to you, as a former major, how to military.

Probably followed up with slurred instructions to write him an email every Friday saying what they've done during the week.

Senior generals and admirals from around the world were summoned to Washington by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who is expected to deliver a "short speech." However, there is a concern that it's just the beginning of a mass firing or demotion effort.

The Washington Post reported Friday that concerns and "confusion" were coming from those who noticed two four-star Army commanders appeared to have been demoted.

"Gens. Ronald Clark and Xavier Brunson appeared in an internal service directory as lieutenants general," the Post said, citing three people familiar with the issue. Both men are Black.

Trump authorizes military to use "Full Force" against Portland OR.

Nearly everything that spews out of Trump's mouth is a lie.

“These are paid agitators, and they’re very dangerous for our country. And when we go there, if we go to Portland, we’re going to wipe them out,” Trump said in the Oval Office earlier this month. “They’re going to be gone, and they’re going to be gone. They won’t even stand the fight. They will not stay there.”

Trump earlier this month designated Antifa – the loose factions of black-clad leftists or anarchists who show up at protests opposing the police or government – as a “major terrorist organization.” The White House has emphasized incidents in Portland, home to one of the oldest organizations in the country to carry the Antifa moniker, in its statements about the designation.

Wipe them out?

The laws are are still the laws. The GOP in Congress has ignored his actions but don't seem able to pass draconian shifts in what is considered terrorism. But Trump is leading through declaration and fear and people have been retreating when he looks towards them.

The Supreme Court has recently ruled that the Exec Branch is limited in how it interprets the law.
