How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

In other news, the pro-EU PAS party won in Moldova's election with 50.1% of the vote
What a fortunate number - 50.1% :P

Well, the pro-Russian party got 20.1%.
and?

Again, another example of a country that you don't know that well. Moldova was another 50-50 country. In fact, it leaned towards Russia. Most of its speakers speak Russian. Many are Russian. But Russian imperialism is pushing them to the west. All the eastern European countries are moving westward and uniting against Russia because they don't want to be conquered.

And now it is conveniently 50.1-49.9.
After you banned Moldova citizens in Russia from voting, and most likely faked the pro-EU votes.
And sent opposition leaders to prison.

They aren't particularly big on The West, but they don't want to be part of Russia either.

Trump as the demon at a crematorium 'Durga Pandal'.

Majority of people who voted in Molvova itself voted against Sandu Regime.
they only managed to get more than half of votes by employing election frauds and preventing people in Russia and Transnistria from voting.
Bunch of opposition parties were banned just before the elections and some people were sent to prison on preposterous charges. And participation was only 52%. People are tired of the bullshit.

This is a parliamentary government set up. That outcome is hardly a shocker. Labour party smacked the conservative's ass in the UK in 2024, and had only 33% of the popular vote, only 10 pts more than the Conservatives. In Moldova, the winning party had nearly 2x the vote of the pro-Russia party, which only got about 1/4 of the vote.

That is actually up compared to 2021, the highest since 2014, when it was just over 55%.

The nuclear threat is Putin holding a gun to his own head.
Suppose Hitler had nukes available that fateful day, instead of just cyanide and a pistol.
How different might the modern world be?
Tom
Well, back in that day, it needed to be flown over to England and Russia and dropped on London and Moscow. And Germany would likely need to test it on the enemy on the first try as they couldn't test it in their backyard. And it isn't like they would be popping them out by the dozen. The US stopped at Nagasaki because we ran out.

Also, having broken Germany's code, it would have been possible that the allies would have known it was coming and would have put up a fierce fight to keep that plane from ever taking off.

Okay let me explain the obvious.
Suppose Hitler had the nukes available to Putin. Do you think that human history would bear much resemblance to what has happened?

Do you think that the threat of global destruction would be a deterrent to a violent autocrat about to lose their throne and probably their life?
Tom

Well Dr Z, Hitler eradicated populations and invaded Ukraine to make way for German expansion. Initially Ukrainians saw the Nazis as liberators from Stalin.

Putin invaded Ukraine and intended to eliminate the population for Russian occupation.

Putin was quite explicit. Ukraine as a culture never really existed and would be replaced by Russian culture. That is genocide.

Putin is a sick rapid dog that needs to be put down.

Putin's Russia is a dictatorship where opponents are suppressed and jailed, there is no free speech, and no free p[ress.

His constant bombardment of Ukaro9nin civilians is the act of an evil sick mind.

Wow, you truly suck at math.

50.1-20.1 ≠ 50.1-49.9

You don't get to claim every single third party vote as support for the losers.

It is exactly as valid to say that Moldova is 79.9-20.1 in favour of the EU, but nobody said that because it would be an obvious lie.

So why don't you say that? Why do you chose one obvious lie over another? Why doesn't your obvious distortion of the facts in favour of your unfounded opinion embarass you? Do they really pay you enough to act the clown, that you don't care that we can all see you being pointlessly foolish?
