The Marjorie Taylor Greene case

When she talked to Trump about this behind the scenes it was about him finding Democrat names. So, she has a bit of a bias or is too willing to be politically partisan about it. If she is really and truly wishing to do this in a fair and unbiased way, she could get another Republican congresswoman and a Democratic congresswoman to do this jointly with the victims present on the Capitol steps with the press watching. As a team, they could list names. I'd like to see it done this way, anyway.

It seems like there was a nuanced difference here. MTG thought this: "hey release the files and then lean into making Clinton a big deal. You can do this since you are innocent." Meanwhile, Trump thought: "I cannot release the files or be transparent. Therefore, I will order loyal cultists in the DOJ to investigate Clinton-Epstein connection, while NOT releasing the Epstein files."
Yup, another excuse for not releasing. "Ongoing investigation."

True. Though I doubt that Trump is smart enough to think up that ploy. One of his butt lickers would have to have thought of it. Like with almost everything else Trump does.

So, recent discussion about MTG makes it seem to me as if she is trying to align herself to be the next Trump, to grab the spotlight of power among the GOP.

The problem here is that she isn't reading the playbook that people are trying to execute.

If we are to assume that rich and powerful Christians with an intent to force a biblical prophecy into fulfillment, this gives her a very different role: the Faithless Woman of Babylon.

If someone is trying to set up a prophecy play, the next thing on the docket will be Republican leaders turning on her.

In any case, MTG will be a lesson for all the other cultists. They must all agree 100% with Trump or lose their careers. If Trump shows forgiveness, then all the other Republicans will think they can sometimes disagree and get away with it, too.

Isn't that the way politics has always worked? Either lick the balls of your POTUS and party or the party will try to ruin you? Just look at how the republican party and Trump treats Rand Paul over the deficit for example. Paul gets more flack from Trump than MTG even on her worst day.

And for the people on this thread who think MTG suddenly turned a new leaf and wants to join the other side. Its not MTG or MAGA who has changed her mind about the Epstein files.....it was the Trump administration. How can a reasonable person fault her actions when she is simply representing her base of constituents? Are not her actions a reasonable expectation for a typical US politician?

No, it isn’t.

You’re misreading the responses. MTG is finally acting rationally and perhaps waking up to the fact she vigorously supported a monster.

The other way I see this going down is that the GOP will structure the release, using the recently launched DOJ investigations as an excuse to withhold anything substantive, while releasing whatever the ongoing administration wants to release.

Ultimately, Trump will see his name redacted.

Never mind that then victims can release their own files and clear the air, nobody will listen to them.

Thiel needs to find his "whore" and he will find it somewhere because he wants to position himself as a god to humanity and for that to work, he needs to have enough of Revelation fulfilled for folks to call it "close enough".

I'm pretty sure the large scale famines and destruction would be expected right around or after that kind of event, but I expect there's someone lined up to play the part, or a number of people.

MTG is in the crosshairs, especially if a fix is in on the files and they can claim she was full of hot air.

The problem is that I also expect the administration is too inept to just redact the files so they will find a way to release the tiny fraction and control the rest.

And for the people on this thread who think MTG suddenly turned a new leaf and wants to join the other side
Said *literally* nobody. If anyone is still undecided the MAGA cult lives in a world of fiction let me present you exhibit A right here.

How many politicians ever apologize for anything. I have to give her credit for this, even if she doesn't change most of her views. In these days of extreme hate and division, it takes a bit of courage and humility to admit that you're wrong.

‘Humbly, I’m sorry’: Marjorie Taylor Greene says she’s turning a new leaf after years of divisive comments

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Sunday she will stop using “toxic” rhetoric, marking what would be a dramatic shift in a political brand hallmarked by derogatory comments.

The commitment comes amid a rift with Donald Trump that has spilled into public view, with the president attacking the Georgia Republican personally. Greene, meanwhile, has pivoted away from the Republican Party more broadly recently, criticizing the GOP on a number of fronts, including the party’s handling of the government shutdown.

In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” on Sunday, Greene said she worried Trump’s rhetoric toward her could lead to violence against her.

“The most hurtful thing (Trump) said, which is absolutely untrue, is he called me a traitor, and that is so extremely wrong,” Greene said, “and those are the types of words used that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger.”

“I would like to say, humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics; it’s very bad for our country,” Greene said. “It’s been something I’ve thought about a lot, especially since Charlie Kirk was assassinated.”

Greene said she realized that she has participated in or supported heated rhetoric that has resulted in threats toward others, a point of reflection for her.

“I’m only responsible for myself and my own words and actions … and I’ve been working on this a lot lately, to put down the knives in politics,” Greene said. “I really want to just see people be kind to one another.”

I will repeat that I will not believe her humility is genuine until she apologizes to DavidHogg for harassing him.
That's fine. We are all entitled to to our opinions. I personally don't feel she needs to apologize to individuals and of course, we don't know is she if fully sincere at this point, but compared to the old MTG, I'll take the new MTG.

We will see. I will wait for her actions to show truth. I believe people can change but it does take a lot of introspection and hard work (or trauma).

A new MTG will last longer than an old one, but it’s not as cool as the old one; the old one really screamed.
In any event I don’t expect the original paint to last long on the new one - it already has bird droppings on it.
Anyway, there’s no MTG like the old MTG.
And personally I prefer no MTG.

There are some who are worse then MTG. Believe me. I live in the Bible Belt.

I wonder if this is the result of new meds or being taken off meds. Otherwise, this is just temporary.

Wacky Marjorie "Traitor” Brown (Remember, Green turns to Brown where there is ROT involved!) is working overtime to try and portray herself as a victim when, in actuality, she is the cause of all of her own problems. The fact is, nobody cares about this Traitor to our Country!
AHa ha ha ha ha!!!

Shecky, er, Donnie. Wutta cutup!

I'm betting she won't make it for a week before dropping into the mud again.

I realize this is one of my myriad character flaws, but I can’t help thinking this vicious wackadoodle is getting her deserved desserts.
