Since the adults are now catching on to it, and since teachers have banned it in the classroom, the kids need a new 6 7. I think I have it. It's just as smart as 6 7, and has the same gravitas and the same force of self-assertion. It's even easier to remember than 6 7, because all it is, is
QUACK QUACK.
That's it -- Quack Quack. If I can get the youngsters to start quacking throughout the day, and dropping the 6 7, I will have served at least three purposes. First, I will have met the need for a new stop-gap meme and expression to replace the rapidly aging 6 7. Second, I will give the youngsters fresh ammo to drive their teachers and parents batshit crazy. Third, I will give the young set a new self-definition as they quack away.
This can only happen if people start spreading the word. Q2 needs to reach a certain saturation point to take off. Tell all the kids you know to start quacking.

WTF is a 6 7?

I am rapidly aging myself, and I have literally never heard of this before you started this thread.

From the thread title, my first response was "probably 8", but this isn't the mathematics forum, and that problem seems a touch less advanced than most of the contributions to that forum, so now I am questioning my answer.

Banning 6 7 from classrooms must make teaching math particularly difficult :)

Some teachers are overusing 6-7 as a teaching tool and I admit I did it yesterday when teaching near doubles! The more they hear it being used, the less popular it is, especially when an adult uses it!

"6 7" can have several meanings depending on the context, including a recent internet slang term for a vague or non-committal response, an old idiom for confusion, or a reference to specific things like a height of 6' 7". In slang, it is a nonsensical sound often used to frustrate adults or signal belonging, with multiple possible origins like a song or a battle between good and evil.
I think South Park did an episode on it.

Join the crowd. I'm a boomer. I stumbled on to 6 7 last weekend, after reading a cryptic reference somewhere that made zero sense. Trust me, the kids all know 6 7 and even do a hand motion (like they're tossing a ball in each hand) when they chant it. At the school down the street from me, at least some teachers have banned the expression.

From google and from the lifeguard at the Y, I have heard several meanings for 6 7:

1) it's a reference from some rap song by Skrilla called 'Doot Doot'
2) it's a reference to some basketball player who is 6'7"
3) it all goes back to some video with something like 5 gazillion views of a curly-headed boy at a sport event who chants it
4) it's a hardcore gang symbol (this was the lifeguard's version)
5) it has no fixed meaning whatever
6) it is a chant that is meant to derange parents and teachers
I think the true answer is a combination of 5 and 6, with perhaps a dash of "We're kids and you're not."

It is all over. A friend of mine went past gate 67 at an airport last week and heard kids chanting it.
Remember, our generation had LSD to cook our brains. This bunch is doing it with 6 7, though perhaps without the visions.

Looking it up on the Interwebs, I adduce that it’s a “Gen Alpha” term that came into use this year and has no fixed meaning.

So now we are in Gen Alpha. Wonderful.
