Yet another war, this time with Iran

If I reformulate your argument does it boil down to, because some people in USA benefit from conflict, and that's why USA keeps being aggressive, therefore USA is evil?

That’s not a reformulation, it’s a strawman.

Common sign from the '24 campaign, in these parts:
HARRIS = HIGH PRICES
TRUMP = LOW PRICES
(I always wanted to fix those signs with a little paint, changing PRICES to IQs. Too many surveillance cameras these days.)

Disfiguring signs isn't right. People have the right to expose themselves to be stupid when it comes to politics.

I'm probably the only person in Ohio with the Harris sign still in the front yard.

Contrary to what Dr. Jesus says, thinking it isn't the same as doin' it.

He is saying this avoid a vote in Congress.

In my part of the country, we are approaching $5 a gallon. That will be a major psychological barrier. The GOP doesn't want their vote of approval for that especially when Trump and the idiots in his cabinet have no bloody clue what they are doing.

If the GOP lose the OH senate seat, that probably means they lose the Senate.

So Trump's announcement isn't about what he wants to do with Iran but trying to help the GOP from getting skinned.

Trump trying to help someone who isn’t Trump? That’s an interesting take.
If he doesn't have the House and Senate, life will be pretty hard the last two years, assuming things go as they are legally supposed to.

Trump being a piece of shit again.

He calls them "Fake Polls" when the polling results show that less than 40% of Americans approve of his war on Iran. Ya. all polls that he doesn't like the results of are fake polls.

He says polls should instead ask if people think that Iran should have nukes.

They ask that too. I've seen polls that ask that and obviously the huge majority don't think that Iran should have nukes.

But it's not one or the other. It's entirely logical to believe that it would be bad for Iran to have nukes and also believe that Trump's war was a bad idea.

So. Now we know how to get around the war powers act. Just say it’s over. On this day in 1968, Johnson declared the Vietnam War over. The boys will be coming home soon. In about 4-5 years.

IMO, it is logical and sane to think it is a bad idea for any country to have nukes. Especially one run by Trump.
Stop it. The degree of comparative evil in Trumps government is on a complete different level than that of the authoritarian world (the west is up against).

While Trump is a cunt. His evil is hamstrung by the US constitution (and thank fucking god(s) for that).

The fact that USA has such a massive big swinging nuclear dick, is why nukes aren't habitually raining in the world.

You are describing such a fairy tale of a world. Trumps badness doesn't make authoritarian dictators good people

. Learn to read with comprehension and such straw men of yours may stop. My first sentence is the logical equivalent of no country should have nukes.

Your trust in the US Constitution preventing Trump from using nukes is based on pure ignorance. The US president is the commander in chief. Nothing in the Constitution requires military personnel to disobey illegal or crazy orders. Moreover, anyone paying attention would realize that Trump does not necessarily feel constrained by it or any law.

Technically, any barriers to Trump launching a nuke would not be found in the Constitution. Contrarily to your comment, the Constitution broadly supports his launching of nuclear weapons by making him the head of the military.
The fact that USA has such a massive big swinging nuclear dick, is why nukes aren't habitually raining in the world.
No, not at all. It is because two opposing sides have an arsenal of nuclear weapons is the reason why they haven't been used. The trouble with Trump is he defies all known political convention. Even the party he is a member of isn't providing any resistance from the Iran military fuck up to tariffs, something the GOP absolutely disdains. In Trump's first term, roadblocks existed to the use of nukes. Nixon was so despondent near the end of his presidency, there were backup then too. Right now, it seems only the military itself might step in the way to a nuclear order.
Trumps badness doesn't make authoritarian dictators good people
Iran having a nuclear weapon wouldn't be a good thing. Little Trump has done in the last 15 months has impeded that path. Israel assassinated the scientists, not the US. The nuclear weapon sounds more like a red herring because the goal of this entire thing was getting right of the Theocracy, which while successful in reordering it, the US and Israel did not end the Theocracy. So nuclear weapons became a face saving maneuver.

The constitution of USA creates a culture. The democratic culture of USA is all pervasive and seeps through the entire society. The military aren't blind idiots. They also understands the dangers of shooting nukes. They're also bound by the various international conventions and don't want to be war criminals. While USA often can flout those, people do care about what other people think of them. Being the guy who shot the nuke, against an undeserving oponent, isn't a good legacy.

After shooting the original nukes on Japan, which had and has strong arguments for it, we still aren't all cool about it. The generals in the pentagon knows this.

This is about feelings.

You're completely wound up on the legalistic technicalities. As if Americans aren't capable of thinking and feeling for themselves.

There's memoires written by Russian military serving under Jeltzyn who all conspired between them that if Jeltzyn orders a nuklear strike they wouldn't do it. Because Jeltzyn was a bit of a (drunk) loose cannon. If these ex-Soviets felt as empowered do ignore direct orders I think the Americans are going to be better at it. I assume that almost the entire US army think Trump is a lose cannon and similarly think he needs adult supervision. Basically, if the US soldiers tasked with shooting the nuke can't see the military sense in it, they won't. Since the only realistic target is Russia and Trump is busy brown-nosing Putin, I can't see a scenario where any US soldier will be put in a position where the choices are hard.

You live in a fantasy land, as well as being incredibly naive IMHO.

So you think the killed Ayatollah was a good person or what?

Wars are often fought by two sides who both are moraly horrendous. Ones badness never elevates the other. Usually it's the other way around. They both sink.
