How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

ISW said:
These aggrandized claims of fictional advances along with milblogger complaints may indicate that the highest echelon of the Russian military command is either unaware of or unwilling to admit the realities of the battlefield even to itself, and is therefore allowing its own falsehoods to influence Russian operational and strategic planning.
Russian military command are claiming Russian forces are advancing beyond towns they have yet to even enter. Even ultranationalist Russian milbloggers are not making such grand claims. No, they are complaining about it as it creates confusion for commanders on the ground who need to make reality based decisions.
As the situation gets worse, do the lies get bigger?

So after suffering thousands upon thousands of drone and missile strikes over the past couple months, Ukraine gives back some of what it has got. News is just coming out that Ukraine launched 550 drones at various regions within Russia. From the short videos I've seen, along with the usual military targets, it looks to me like some either commercial or civilian high rise buildings got hit. If initial reports are correct, these targets were within Moscow. So along with the usual military strikes, some symbolic strikes in Moscow will let Muscovites know their country is in fact at war.

We should all buck up in the knowledge that in a few short years Trump, Putin, and Netanyahu will all be gone, consigned to the obloquy of the history books.

It won't change much. There'll be another one along in a minute.

True, unfortunately. But maybe for a time we’ll get something less worse than these three bastards.

Sorry, but NATO controls Nato air space and will decide what is allowed in Nato air space.
As long as it stays In NATO space. The moment it enters russian space unauthorized that becomes an attack.
Russia has a right to strike Estonia, according to the internatiinal law that is.
Moreover, Russia has a right to strike EU countries which host "Ukrainian" drone manufacturing.
By the way can your retarded imbecilic brain connect the dots and conclude that the reason why ukrainian regime moved all their drone manufacturing because Russian idiot subhumans air strikes made it unfeasible ?
so much for can Russia respond with such efficiency?
Real world politics: if you strike manufacturing in a foreign country you just went to war with that foreign country. Thus it is not done. We bent over backwards to avoid hitting Russians in Vietnam. It makes such wars basically unwinnable. We had no hope in Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. You had no hope in Afghanistan, nor much of any hope in Ukraine. We also had virtually no hope in Iraq--taking down Saddam didn't keep Iran from turning the place into a mess.

You're not going to hit the factories in Europe to any major degree. And hitting them in minor ways is probably counterproductive for you as it would likely increase the flow of weapons to Ukraine.

It's also why the war with Iran is such a mess--we are trying to win without taking Iran down. It's obvious the chief idiot had no plan to keep Iran from blocking the strait--doing so would certainly have required removing at least some Iranian ports and that takes Iranian oil off the world market.

Some good news today! It seems like the Russians are getting tired of the war and have signaled for the first time that they are open to real negotiations. What's causing this shift? Well, Ukraine attacks are getting deeper into heavily fortified sites. Ukraine has been making some inroads and taking some land back. And it appears that the Russian economy is getting worse. All good news.

Vietnam have never attacked US. Whereas Nazi scum in Kiev attacked Russia, using western weapons and intelligence data. We, of course, returned the favor in Iran somewhat but that was limited only to Iranian defense. Iran is not attacking civilian targets in US proper.

Yeah, Russia hasn't launched thousands of drones and missiles on the Ukrainian civilian population just over the last couple of months.
No, we have not. Unlike US in Iran with their unprovoked agression against people of Iran, Russia strikes exclusively military targets.
Yes we know.
This kindergarten was probably where Zelenskky hides all those drones that are hitting Russian military targets.
How do you know that this story is not a lie?
Ukrainian Regime are pathological liars. That's just a fact

:hysterical:
Yes, we conduct the war according to international rules and you are not.
Is Russia's invasion of Ukraine in accordance with international law? Yes or no?
Which one? According to you we invaded Crimea in 2014.
Yes, invasion was in accordance with laws. Illegal regime in Kiev broke all sensible agreements which would have prevented war and did so because of the western pressure and belief that they would be successful in their proxy war with Russia.

And I have a question to you too. Was US war with Iran legal?

Hitting Moscow, and thereby making it impossible for influential and wealthy Muscovites to keep pretending that the war won't hurt them personally, or that the air defences around their city are impregnable, probably has more to do with it than anything else.

More clarity on how the war is likely at an inflection point.
Ukrainian mid-range strikes deal double blow to Russia's war effort
Ukraine extending their reach beyond the front line, up to 180 km allows them to target logistic support for Russia's front line troops and Russian radar used to identify Ukraine's long range drones. These Ukrainian mid range strikes, while new are doubling every month.
If you don't care to read the full article, that's the long and short of it.

My hope is this year if Russia grows increasingly amicable toward reaching an end to the war, Ukraine drags its feet keeping the press on for the complete removal of Russian forces from Ukraine.
More likely a misinformed and ill-informed Putin will dig in and Russia will suffer a complete military and economic implosion. Then it will be Putin's turn to stand in front of the window.

One of your problems is that you don't understand international law. According to the UN charter, a state may use force only when authorized by UN security council or in self-defense against an armed attack. There was no Ukrainian attack on Russian land. Just as Israel was not part of the US and Crimea was not part of Russia, neither attack was legal.

Crimea re-became Russia in 2014 and illegal regime in Kiev attacked it immediately.
You can argue about Eastern Ukraine but Crimea absolutely had a right to have a referendum to leave Ukraine. So It was Ukraine who attacked Russia.
Also I don't remember you protesting against NATO aggression (Yugoslavia, Libya, Iraq)
Also both Maidans (2004 and 2014) in Ukraine were a western aggression.

Funny how the referendum to join Russia was after Russia effectively made Crimea "re-became" part of Russia.
So It was Ukraine who attacked Russia.

Yugoslavia was a tad bit before IIDB was a thing, at least after Usenet. Your member join date is 2005, so you wouldn't remember the threads we had in 2002 and 2003 in the run up to the Iraq invasion and the generally negative view it had among liberals and moderates here. I don't recall (it has been a while) if there were people here that supported it at all, even among the conservatives that supported W.
