How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Russia Today - You're source for things in Russia that are on fire.
Refinery Fire.png
Today's blaze is the Antipinsky Oil Refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region.
According to local reports, the blaze may have originated at one of the refinery’s processing units. Russian media cited preliminary information suggesting the fire was linked to a technological malfunction during operations.
I hope it was a technical malfunction, one caused by a lack of maintenance due to the joint having to run at capacity 24/7.
The facility has a reported processing capacity of more than 9 million metric tons of crude oil annually and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products primarily for the domestic Russian market.
Well that ain't good.

Of course they are. It's a brilliant military strategy.
Millitary targets were hit.
You have to say that and you don't believe it any more than anyone else.

Let's hope the next Russian government finds your exemplary work valuable enough to put you on their information team.

Sometimes a fire is just a fire. During the first months of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a lot attention was given to industrial fires that seemed to be popping up everywhere from Moscow to Manchuria. There were rumors of ninja Ukrainian sabotage teams or secret anti-Putin underground. It turns out Russia has a much higher tolerance for job site accidents than other industrialized nations. Fires and stuff exploding is just Thursday in Russia

Everyday there seems to be another report of a successful Ukrainian kick in the Russian ass.
Ukraine is starting to give as good as they've got. The open letter to Putin and the strikes in St. Petersburg were timed to coincide with Putin's pitiful Russian Davos there. To show attendees Russia is not the place to invest, not a strong country, and have made a mistake in attacking Ukraine. Putin has gravely underestimated Zelensky.

Russia is implementing a new incentive for students to pass their exams;

Denis* attends a university in Moscow and is among those who have been offered a contract after failing a subject last semester. He told the ABC that in previous years, retaking an exam was a straightforward proposition. Not anymore.

"The university said if you agree to fight then you will not be expelled, you can come back to study and the academic debts will be cleared too," he said.

"It's quite difficult to retake any subjects now. It's as if they [the university] just don't allow it on purpose.

"They offered us the option to join the military with some conditions that were just unrealistic."

Well, that's one way to increase recruitment, I suppose.

Meanwhile Ukraine is field testing a tactical satellite intelligence network that sends direct to soldiers phone/laptop/tablet high resolution commercial satellite images. Ukrainian troops will be able to receive these images in about 15 minutes. This cuts out the hours long or even days long review and approval process.
The images go direct to mobile ground stations with AI striping out unnecessary data of these massive files. They are then made available to handhelds to overlay on offline maps showing changes in the terrain. Data sent to handhelds are very resistant to jamming using freq hopping, spread spectrum, and very low power emission to sneak the data through the RF clutter. So what the soldier sees is the subtle changes in foliage created by hidden equipment and vehicles and the changes in terrain created by vehicles and foot traffic repeatedly going to the same place/building being used for ammo storage. These satellites can revisit the same location up to 15 times a day providing targeting to 5 meters.
Brought to you by two US, one Dutch, and one Ukrainian manufacturer. This is Russia getting it's ass kicked with commercial satellite equipment. Pretty sad.

The longer you hold out Vlad, the worse your bargaining position gets. Just saying.

As long as Ukraine is in a war, they are ineligible to join NATO (NATO rules), so if Putin is serious about fearing Ukrainian NATO membership, I think it will take Putin’s death/disappearance for a chance for peace. It is clear the Russian military cannot defeat Ukraine.

When Ukraine is eligible to join NATO, Putin's worries will be over.

It’s just minor damage. Nothing to worry about.
The picture does not show any damage.
Where there is smoke there is fire.
Blumberg reported that refinery campaign by Kiev Regime does not have any effect on russian export of energy.
So what? If it affects the domestic market or more crucially the military supply then there will be problems.
It does not affect anyting.

Meanwhile, mighty ukro-navy sank Turkish fishing boat in the Black Sea, killing one fisherman.
Also one of their sea drones self-destructed in the Romanian Black Sea port.
And attack on on Azeri grain ship in Caspian sea, killing bunch of azeri citizens.
Narco-fuhrer is pissing off all post soviet Republics.

"Post soviet Republics" against Ukraine. That will be a long row to hoe.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the cargo ships did not belong to the Azerbaijani government.
Doesn't sound like much of a protest to me.

That's what happens when you hang out in the Taganrog Bay with your transponder turned off in a ship known to transport stolen Ukrainian grain.

Meanwhile online coupons for 20 liters of gasoline in occupied Crimea are gone within two hours. And now people are starting to complain about shortages of basic staples such as buckwheat, sugar, rice, and flour.

No, not that Buckwheat.

Russian deliveries through occupied Ukrainian territories have had to stay off the highway and resort to taking backroads down the coast. These roads won't hold up to the traffic for long, I suspect.
And that bridge, the Kerch bridge has been so battered and bruised, it has a severely restricted weight limit. That'd be funny if it just collapsed, not due to missile strikes but heavy traffic. Well, not funny funny but Russian funny.

And the Russian milbloggers are still painting a grim picture, complaining about everything from logistic to Ukraine owning the skies over occupied territory.

Won't be long now.

Nazi scum stolen the whole contry and now claim we stole grain?

Armenia is breaking with Russian dominance. This is huge, since Armenia is completely dependent on Russian trade to survive. It means they think Russia is so weak they can't do anything about it.

I think Ukraine has broken Putins dreams of recreating the Russian empire and it's hopes to dominate its neighbours.

I think Russia's future is to be a second rate power dominated by China. And all the states, now under the Russian thumb, will start breaking free.

This does not compute. Completely dependent on russian trade (true) and Russia is weak.
In reality, of course it's the same western M.O. - "elect" a puppet and promise that puppet money and good life in the west if they destroy their country.
