Yet another war, this time with Iran

I don't think that Iran really wants peace with US; and certainly not with Israel. And of course, what is the best thing to do to two bitter enemies: split them up. This is what Iran is doing. Trump ran right into the trap. Iran's goals: survive; economically recover; retain the ability to blackmail the world through the US; hurt Trump; and the biggest: isolate Israel by driving a wedge between them and the US. This is all happening.

Which is why it's so baffling that Trump is letting it all happen. It's like having a Mamdani or Platner for president.

Such gross Antisemitism coming from the far left has been present for a long time now. It's disgusting.
I didn't know Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens are leftists.
KC punter Butker whines in a graduation speech that it isn't fair that you can no longer say "who killed Jesus", and nothing from the right wing about actual anti-Semitism. So they can go flip off with their mock pleas against Anti-Semitism.

There is an overly zealous anti-Israel attitude among the left, but it isn't about religion. it is about politics, policy, ignorance, and empathy.

Yes. You think Trump had a point.
Trump often has at least concepts of a point. The problem is the execution. This idiotic deal is his worst TACO yet.
The global economy is on the verge of a massive energy crisis. That is forcing Trump's hand of which he has many cards. They just aren't worth that much.

Many are making this out as Iran wins bigly. They don't really. Iranian theocracy is having to spin getting their ass whooped. If not for the economic consequences of Hormuz, Iran would be a whipped dog at this point. Iran has promised great reprisals militarily against Israeli and US strikes, but came back with whimpers. But again, a geographic body of water gave them an incredible amount of leverage.

Derec, you seem to think this was so close to victory. Bombs rarely ever take out a government. Ground troops do. And in Iran, the IRGC is everywhere. Trump and the US and Israel were not remotely close to the objective. They barely got to "far away" from the objective. So they shifted goalposts to make this about nuclear weapons to save face.

This is why people like Trump shouldn't be in power. They are too darn stupid.
This is Iran wins bigly. The world has shown it prefers appeasement to dealing with the problem.
I don't see your ass in the military. Removing the Theocracy in Iran will kill tens of thousands of troops, easy.
No, we don't need to invade.
Second, this isn't appeasement. The Trump Admin's 'memo of agreement' is way beyond appeasement. Trump saying Iran should be allowed to have ballistic missiles?!
Yeah, the agreement is beyond insane.

Doesn't mean the world didn't choose appeasement.
Iran has already killed millions, they will kill millions more. And I expect that they'll end up pushing Israel into taking the confirm or deny option.
Millions?
Nobody's shoving them in your face in the nightly news. Look at all the Iranian-backed genocide going on in Africa. And note that the reported death tolls are way low--they report on what's observed but most of it isn't observed.

And, for that matter, look at all the deaths due to Iranian-backed takeovers of Syria and Yemen.

Does Trump have any options to stop any of this? Is there a viable exit strategy from this?

He is dealing with highly irrational and dishonest people who don’t care about their own people if it means the destruction of Israel. Bombing the shit out of them may not be enough for them to be reasonable.

Really?

What is your master plan to remove the Theocracy in Iran without invading?

Bear in mind that bombing the leaders, then their replacements, then their replacements, was just tried, and has only strengthened the position of the hard-line faction within the Theocracy.

How, exactly, do you think that removing the Theocracy in Iran can be achieved?

Israel is the only country I'm aware of in modern history that responds to acts of terrorism by committing acts of genocide themselves.
The Palestinians are the only people I am aware of in modern history that regularly attacks a neighbor and then uses their own people for human shields.
Tom
No. Hamas is controlled by Iran, they shouldn't really be considered Palestinian.

Don't.

We can't realistically remove it, but we don't need to.

What we need to do is stop them from being able to hit the Strait. Hit the ports that the ships operate from. Hit the roads in the area.

But this will also take Iran's oil off the world market for a long time to come. And the world doesn't want that, hence appeasement.

Huh? You have this backwards.

It's The Felon offering --->a ceasefire with Israel<---- while Hezbollah says "not interested".
One of the conditions was for Israel to withdraw from Lebanon, which it has still failed to do.
Yeah. But that's not Israel saying no to a deal between the US and Iran, that's Israel saying no to the US trying to force a deal on Israel.
Your two posts contradict each other.

With what, and from where, and to what effect?

And how many "ports" and "roads" are we discussing here? Iran has a vast coastline, dotted with places from which a small boat might operate, and with places from which a small fire-team armed with man-portable weapons can fire directly on shipping in the gulf and the strait.

Are you planning to destroy every goat-track that overlooks the strait? Every beach, cove, or promentary from which a small boat might be launched?

What about mines? How will you sweep them, and how will you prevent new ones from being laid? How will you protect the vessels doing that?

I don't think you have even begun to grasp the scale of the problem, or the degree of difficulty here.

Which is exactly the mistake Trump made when he started this mess.
But this will also take Iran's oil off the world market for a long time to come. And the world doesn't want that, hence appeasement.
The world doesn't get a say. This is just the USA (and Israel), vs Iran. Trump didn't ask the world what they though before he started his war; Shit, he didn't even ask the US Congress.

The question remains, despite your effort to move the goalposts: How, exactly, do you think that removing the Theocracy in Iran can be achieved?

All you have done is to move the goalposts to a place where you still have no hope of scoring. How, exactly, do you think the US could "stop them from being able to hit the Strait"?

Anyone who thinks Trump or Netanyahu are interested in peace or even a ceasefire are either lying or are ignorant as fuck.

That's right, Trump threatened to kill a fucking peace delegation during negotiations. Art of the fucking deal.

Trump is going to need a giant excavator to lay the bar any lower than he is at the moment.
