California Doing California Things

I hear a lot of conservative dipshits are moving to Idaho and Texas these days.... the weather is lovely... there are potatoes...
There are potatoes in Texas??

;)
Oh yes. Texas sweet potatoes in particular are very popular, and potatoes in general make up a huge portion of their ag output. Nothing compared to Idaho, of course, but potato fields are hardly a rare sight, especially around Golden TX, where the Texas sweet potato was born.

Of course, California itself is also a major potato producer. What we have that Idaho does not is standards.

No, I am going to stop you right there to point out that a sweet potato is NOT the same thing as a potato. AT ALL.
Don't you live in that place where up is down and winter is hot?
Like I'd believe you about sweet potato.

Okey doke. Well, they do raise plenty of S. tuberosum in Texas as well, if you feel absolutely compelled to be a twat about produce taxonomy. I suppose you enjoy interrupting people who call incorrectly refer to maize as "corn" as well. I would argue that "potatos" and "corn" are similar terms in popular use, referring more to a general type of food than any one cultivar exclusively, despite now being associated more so with one species than the others it once included.

Did you know that sweet potatoes have been called "potatoes" (or at least patatas) for far longer than the Andean crops you are thinking of? The word comes from the Taíno language, and was borrowed into Spanish and eventually the other European languages to describe the sweet potatoes cultivated all over North America and the Caribbean. Patatas incas, or simply papas, the crop most commonly called potatoes now, weren't imported beyond the Andes until a century later.

I absolutely do. If I order potatoes and get sweet potatoes instead, I shall be complaining to the management and demanding that the waiter or cook responsible be fired, blacklisted, and deported to El Salvador, and that his house be burned to the ground, and the ruins sown with salt so nothing can grow there again.

(Except potatoes. They are nice with a bit of salt).

Ah. So the problem is a lack of taste, not a lack of education. I rescind my attempts at enlightenment.

A lot of ordinary people are leaving California. Mostly tax payers.
Well that's bullshit. The scammers who are leaving are scum like Shapiro and Rogan. Cunts who treat their staff like shit.

Something Swizzle seems to want to double down on. Says a lot.
